"I haven’t personally however a lot of people in my current place of work hit their 50s and decide they would like to change to a less physically demanding part of the organisation. Their biggest challenge seems to be the IT skills and writing with the corporate voice - is the best way I can think of to describe that. I had an individual from our operational area working in my team for three months and where he struggled was things like taking minutes, writing articles, creating posts to be shared on Viva Engage. My advice would be to think about any similar challenges you might face, what you can do to minimise those and what positives you can bring from your experience - and make sure this stands out in applications. "I've changed and changed and am contemplating changing again. My suggestions to help you change. Identify your key, transferable skills. Then try and identify what a new job or sector looks like. Write a decent CV and have a narrative to tell new people what you want and what you can give a new job. Through your network find folks working in places/ sectors you're interested in and make time to talk to them. " What do you mean? I don’t know what Viva Engage is, but I can guess, I wouldn’t waste your time on this marketing crap. Get to events and conferences. I did one conference back in 2006. I think I spoke for 20 minutes as a favour for a friend and I can link that to at least 10 good contracts & other opportunities over the next 15 years. | |||

It’s to share work related info. So for example if the mental health first aiders are running an online drop in session or we have gained access to apps like Sleep Station, we use it to tell people so that they can attend/download etc if they’re interested. | |||

I’ve been doing my job for 30 years in the building industry, now I’m desperate to escape into a new challenge x" Not personally, but when in hospital a lady went from office work, to an operating room practitioner at 50, involved a degree etc. She's inspired me to do it when circumstances allow. | |||

Never looked back. | |||
