I'm not a fan of over the top lip fillers, but as with any health and beauty industry it thrives by selling insecurity, we're constantly surrounded by things telling us that we're not good enough. I feel for young people these days.

couple, us we him her.

I wonder what horrible side effects we are going to see in years to come?

If someone has had fillers for years then stops at a point where the skin has started losing elasticity are their lips going to be saggy like deflated balloons, will it be something that will need to be continued until old age?

Or do we know the long term illness that maybe associated with the products used ?

Not to mention the horror stories you hear about how badly regulated the industry is.

Honestly this all seemed to have sparked off the back off the Kardashians.

It's up-to the individual but given the risks and how often it just doesn't look good is it really worth it?

Just for balance and context, I didn't make this as a bash thread per say but honest opinion is certainly what I appreciate. The main point is not that I'm trying to see men gas light women to thinking it's an act only done for or to impress males.

Personally I don't think they are too bad, as someone alluded to they suit some but others not so...

I hope every adult can make their own informed decisions about what they do to their body, it's just like the decision to smoke or drink, you know it's not beneficial health wise but you do it because you like it. And that's what it's about I think

I don't think it's necessary half the time.

Funny how the "trout pout" which was just something don't in photos turned into lip fillers and permanent pouts.

There's a similarity now to a lot of women who get fillers and a loss of individuality that's sad imo

You have lovely lips. And they look natural.

Fake ones are a big ick for me. I can’t un-see the insecurity hiding behind them. A woman who is comfortable in herself will always be attractive. There are some incredibly sexy women with very thin lips.

Good fake ones look natural.

Same with tits to be fair. A friend of mine who had hers done became a totally different person without that insecurity about them dragging her down. I think that sometimes people having the work done to improve their confidence are making the right choice. She is now comfortable in herself in a way that she wasn't before. And they look and feel natural.

Oof.

It really is widespread the idea that females are incapable of doing something for any reason other than to provoke a reaction from men.

Why is that such a focal point of late?

People frequently talk about this as an insecurity and how sad it is.

Trends come and go but I'm not sure why "fish lips" is so stigmatised really. I get the argument it makes (typically) women look like a homogeneous group but fashion, hair and whatnot can do the same. Fake boobs don't get the same bad press or women called out or pitied for insecurities - often that's about confidence and there's a "good for them" sentiment behind it.

If they genuinely make them feel more confident, then all power to them. Unfortunately it isn’t always this way. The satisfaction can be a hygiene factor. A passing emotional fix. This may be the case when women chase the fix with larger and larger implants. They can become dysmorphic. Feeling they look natural when they clearly don’t.

Very well said, my ex used to get her lips done and we’d always discuss that it’s not for me, but it’s because it makes her feel more confident.

Ultimately if you’re not making extreme changes and it helps you feel more content in your own body then it can only be a good thing.

But I don’t think it’s something men are that excited by.
