You have to capitulate do things you don't want to do because she likes them ,you have to be fun and generous ,a good loving dad to your children and above all love her to bits then you have a happy marriage.

Of course there is and I can imagine it's based on not taking each other for granted, honesty, communication, being a solid partner any which way they need you to be and shagging each other like it's the first time everytime.

That's the problem sex stops, life takes over and it seems to be forgotten which I find really difficult to believe as sex is crucial in any healthy relationship, married or not

Marriages don't seem to last like they did with our parents, and I guess if you look at life now to how it was back in the day we have so many more pressures these days, social media being the largest one of all. Statistics show Facebook is the largest cause of relationship break downs

Everyone is different and everyone has different needs in a marriage but yeah you can definitely be happy in a marriage.

For me it's about being a 50/50 partnership we've been together 32 years so we've also grown together and are best friends.

It's definitely not all roses and picket fences it's bloody hard work at times!! Open and honest and sometimes hard conversations are definitely important.

My husband tells me every day how sexy and gorgeous i am and i think that's extremely important as i can't imagine being in a marriage and not feeling that your partner finds you sexually attractive.

Noone likes to feel like their having sex out of some kind of duty lights off 5mins then roll over and go to sleep so i think its important to change thing's up a bit keep each other on our toes.

We've always had a spark even tho at times when our kids were younger and life got a bit hectic the spark might have taken a back burner it was extremely important and still is to make time for each other.

Absolutely!! We're happily married and love the thought of growing old together.

We're best friends, we adore each other, we make each other laugh every day, we support each other through anything and everything, we fancy each other and we really enjoy each other's company.

We've both had previous relationships that have not been like this at all. Whether that's shaped us or not, I don't know. We do consider ourselves very lucky to have found one another. Equally, we do work hard to retain our happy marriage.

I hope that anyone who wants it, finds happiness with someone too xxx

I'm not so sure. Capitulation or having to yield to anything rarely leads to happiness, because that's a sure-fire reason not to be married in the first place. Surely happiness and contentment is about finding a middle ground, compromising and being malleable to each other's interests and desires - as long as the 'marital happiness' isn't eroded and remains true.

Does the sex stop or does it just dwindle to lesser amounts because of life?

I find it really hard to believe that sex just stops. Not saying you’re fibbing, I just don’t understand it.

Less frequently, maybe changes in how you do it - arthritic knees so no more going on top, etc. but to stop? ✋ hold it right there!

We've been together for 26 years. Married for 24 years this year.

Not going to say it has all been plain sailing because it hasn't, but what we have been through has made us stronger.

Think some key factors are; love, respect and honesty.

Been kind and considerate.

Communication.

Having fun.

And having great sex.
