Would you miss Fab?

Hello Forumites.

I will be leaving Fab soon for the second time in my life for a very happy reason.

I believe I have found my soulmate and we will be moving in together and trying to make a mini Swiss.

My first experience of Fab was wonderful for the most part but ended on a sour note.

I came back after a long time away as i missed chatting to liberated people but also hoped to relive the good times of the past.

It felt like i had unfinished business in the lifestyle and my second time around was different but a wonderful experience nonetheless.

I think i can happily close this chapter in my life and move on.

It occurred to me how many long term members of the community walk away when they find that special someone and don’t look back?

Does the lifestyle stay with them for life and a part of them wishes they could indulge from time to time?

Or can they look back, smile and say i had a lot of fun but that time has passed.

I know a lot leave and keep in touch with friends via other channels so was curious to hear about the different experiences.

Fab is good for me at the moment..as I get closer to retirement I hope I'll be too busy to be a regular frequenter, but I doubt I'll delete my profile (snorts as I've deleted around 6 times so far lol).. probably just fade away like an ember faltering on the wind

We took a break for a couple of months before Christmas and can honestly say I didn’t miss it.

We don’t post on the forums as much as we used to anyway.

FAB has been good to us but times change and the people change on it. We will use use to post pics and find FWB’s but we won’t be as active as the forums are just a constant cycle.

It’s good to take a break and also leave, especially if it’s good reasons like yours ❤️

All the very best OP. I find that if I can go a week without Fab I don't really miss it and will take a longer break if a few months. But I just pop back due to boredom really and not so much curiosity as to what's going on as it's a little bit rinse and repeat to be fair.

I mean I love swinging, I can be monogamous aswell though, It really depends on the relationship and the boundaries within it

Currently I'm very happy single so it's a non issue for me.

I have been a part of online communities since 1991, most of them as vanilla as they can get. Some of them disappeared, fizzled out, etc. and I have missed them as such but none of them have been life changing.

I am lucky to have had my soulmate for the last 21 years. He gets me dressed, makes my coffee exactly the way I like it and strokes my arm when watching TV. So I wouldn’t be leaving Fab for shacking up with someone as I already am! I sometimes read the ludicrous messages I get out loud to him and we have a giggle together.

If the site were to implode, cease to exist, the Y2K bug arrive a quarter of a century late, etc- yeah, I’d miss it for a bit, but as I say, it wouldn’t be life changing at all. I wouldn’t be leaving on my own accord really. Don’t have time for flounces at the Hotel California.

I think you’re leaving FAB in the best possible way and congratulations on the good news dude. 🍻

Personally I would love to meet a woman who takes me off FAB for good. In my 7ish months of being here I’ve had some great experiences and met some people that I would stay in contact with on a platonic level but this does have a lifespan for me.

I don’t plan on leaving soon I should add (sorry to disappoint some of you)

My first time here was 7 years ago now. Fab got a divorce out of my system, and introduced me to a lady who eventually decided she wanted to keep me and not share me any longer.

I came back 2 years ago after we split up.

It’s changed, couples used to struggle to find enough genuine suitable men. Being a kinky bugger appears to be more mainstream now.

I've left Fab for love before, and I could happily do it again if life took me in that direction. Or maybe I’d stay. Or dip in and out. Who knows? I think it's possibly a place I'll be revisiting on and off for a few years to come yet, whether I’m here on my own or with a partner.

I do love the lifestyle and the fun I have on here but I have had plenty of experiences in the past i can look back on.

She is open minded and a little intrigued by the lifestyle but definitely not a swinger

We might attend a social event in the future as she finds the stories funny and the people interesting.

I have talked to her about my Fab experiences and had a giggle at some of the messages especially off the men with her.

I was going to write the same about the sign off - it’s an incredible way of putting it!

Best of luck to you. I always get a little pang of nostalgia when I think of the AOL chatrooms of the late 90s and of course, MSN Messenger. So many fierce friendships forged online and then one day, you just… don’t log back on. I’ve unearthed chat transcripts years later and howled with laughter at some of the memories, then fallen into wondering what happened to those people and what they might be up to today.

Having said that, there are so many ways to keep in touch now that maybe we never really leave those connections behind - at least not if they’re strong enough. I’ve gone off piste here a little bit! Anyway I haven’t had the pleasure of knowing you but you sound like a great guy and I wish you all the best on the next incredible adventure!

And you never know what is around the corner, after some toxic relationships and a marriage that wasn’t much better it’s something I didn’t think would happen but here we are.

I have got to know some wonderful people on here and i feel my life is richer for doing so.

I hope to keep in touch with as many as i can.

I get you when you say it has a lifespan i will always have a naughty side but happy to share it with just the one person.

I know what you mean, when I came on many years ago i had come from a very dark place that almost killed me.

Fab helped me rediscover my confidence and had the chance to explore my desires.

I left because of a bad experience and also made the poor choice to marry in haste but these experiences made me who i am today.

Fab is fantastic when you’re here for the right reasons and can do a lot of good but it can be damaging to others.

Overall i have had a great experience.

It seems that way, people are more open minded than they used to be and that’s a good thing

"Hello Forumites.

I will be leaving Fab soon for the second time in my life for a very happy reason.

I believe I have found my soulmate and we will be moving in together and trying to make a mini Swiss.

My first experience of Fab was wonderful for the most part but ended on a sour note.

I came back after a long time away as i missed chatting to liberated people but also hoped to relive the good times of the past.

It felt like i had unfinished business in the lifestyle and my second time around was different but a wonderful experience nonetheless.

I think i can happily close this chapter in my life and move on.

It occurred to me how many long term members of the community walk away when they find that special someone and don’t look back?

Does the lifestyle stay with them for life and a part of them wishes they could indulge from time to time?

Or can they look back, smile and say i had a lot of fun but that time has passed.

Sometimes people leave for the right reasons. They've found what they were perhaps not looking for but what makes them feel complete. That's happened with some of my friends over the years and although we don't talk as often, I still think fondly of them.

I like when people happily leave. And this is meant in the nicest possible way, OP. I hope you don't return. I hope you've found your happiness and continues bringing you the joy you deserve. Fab can be wonderful but equally, there's so much more to life. Holding on to those people who truly bring you joy, who light up your soul a little bit is important. Embracing what's to come, giving your energy to that.

I hope the next chapter of your life is a happy one OP. That you can look back fondly at the time spent on here and be happy that you've made the right choice. It truly sounds like you have. Congratulations and best wishes, x
