"I like to wear brogues and old school leather shoes, I'm also old school when it comes to polishing my shoes and wouldn't be seen dead in patent leather or unpolished shoes. I get this from my Dad and Grandad who were both ex military. How many guys still do the same as me or is it fading out ? " I hope its not fading out, I like men who look after their shoes and wear nice ones.

"I get what ever I can fit my feet in, size 13 there is not a lot of selection that is affordable." Same here. I only have a pair of boots and a pair of plain black trainers. It's all I need. I'm not one to care about what I have on my feet really

"Mine are always clean and polished the old fashioned way. Shoes tell a lot about a man" interesting they do do they ? I think we could debate that x so i could suggest that a man who wears extra shiney shoes , is perhaps a little ocd , has few time consuming interests thus enough time to perform tedious tasks, feels style outweighs content is perhaps a little self obsessed and hold s maybe a more superior than thou attitude x x x now i would not ever truly make such a foolish generalization, although some of my points will apply to some snappy dressers of both sexes now i almost never wear polished shoes , far too pretentious for me and not practical , i wear surf pumps , and walking boots , and dull leather work boots x so please as you can tell a lot from foot wear , suggest what you could tell from mine .

Your extremely judgemental, have an inferiority complex, with a leaning towards a pot kettle scenario, pertaining to being pretentious, with an extremely boring taste in shoes. Ooooooo I hear you say, that's a scarily accurate assessment with so little to go on.

"I often notice someone like a sales person in a car showroom or shop. Smart suit, nice shirt and tie... And scruffy shoes. I think it does tell you something about Some people, not all though. I reckon that looks like a bit of a 'front' but then again don't we all try to put on a front at some time or other in life." interesting , it might tell you something ,sometimes .what an excellent basis for character assessment ?? So there is this crisply dressed car sales person wearing not so sharp shoes , now excluding personal preferences what exactly can we assess about this person ? And further more if our assessment is relatively baseless , surely any judgment and action made are also technicaly unfounded . The only honest assessment i can make is the person concerned has no worries about how others may judge them , that could be nonchalant arrogance like myself or any number of other reasons , lets please remember that its a harsh environment out there many peoples foot wear are a hard working protective shell , again please note , i have zero negativity towards shiny shoes only the suggestion one can assess anything useful about a person based ,ok going to say it , solely aherm , based on them not wearing the worlds sharpest and shinyest shoes

I reckon that looks like a bit of a 'front' but then again don't we all try to put on a front at some time or other in life." very sorry my bad for not being clear enough ! The point i thought i had articulated is, we cannot make a character judgement at any point that we know is accurate . Although our best guess based upon prejudice may happen to be correct it is correct by probability and not because of any useful insist the foot wear gives.now of course i would readly conced that once the person starts talking , the foot wear may at a push be helpful data .the fact you can't know before hand makes the assessment baseless you are right i was wrong with my honest assessment Aw honest assessment i mean using sure logic and facts and not using opinion or stereo type . I should indeed have said what we know is the person does not care what people think about their footwear i cannot assess their reasoning as for showrooms shops and harsh environments , well firstly i was not intending to be specific it was a broad comment suggesting caution for judging foot wear in a negative light at any point. As for the showroom many i know to are connected to workshops ! I can tell you many good car sales people will have dirty hands and scuffed shoes from being lets say hands on (not saying clean non hands on sales people cannot be good too but ,i would rather buy a car from a person who can open the bonnet and touch and show me stuff and will get down onto their knees to discuss a concern under the car) so back again , person with non shiny shoes what objectively can we assess ? Nothing at any time even though if you judge using a stereo type you will get lucky sometimes ,but i could randomly do that with hair colour ,you could guess more about me from my hair colour than my shoes i do state opinions but try not to, if you can articulate a fact and not an opinion why my logical position is an untenable opinion and not objective reasoning please do . Note the only way me doing so would be to illustrate how one could always assess a persons personality from their footwear .if that cannot be done the only fair and objective course me action is not to make any assessment x my ole grandma told me never to judge books by their covers as you may easily be seduced or repulsed which could easily lead to enduring some awful content the fact we have all used ,might ,maybe sometimes . illustrates again prejudgments like this are pretty much futile and counter productive

"You see potentially touchy where i see ad hominm which is where a person rather than articulate a contrary point with basis evidence and facts they try to discredit another using insult or offend, by throwing statements which have no foundation in fact . note, i had no issue with op or his thread about his nice well presented shoes ! ! I made a clear point refering to the post i quoted ,which i thought it erroneous to judge a person based upon their foot wear perhaps i need to add more smiling emicons at the bottom of my threads so it is understood im smiling and being light hearted x " rather than see a reply made with similar intent, you see ad hominm, pot kettle thingy again. ps i'm still getting touchy. pps i havent had to use this many smileys, since celtic beat barcelona.
