Are you happier...

Alone of with someone?

I don't mean on a tactical or day-to-day basis.

But in life, do you find you're happier when you have your person to connect with and it's worth the downsides.

Or do you value the peace and solitude over any compromise being in a relationship would require?

I think I just like close to 100% of me close to 100% of the time.

And when I see other people I like them close to 100% too, but only need to see them 10% of the time, whether that's friends, family, or intimacy and sex.

So when I'm with them, I still like close to 100% of me.

It's just the me I like shared with the them I like.

They think I'm a cunt though, so maybe that throws my reasoning out a tad .

What downsides are you referring to?

I love my own space. I also love spending time with the people who matter to me. I have a nice balance of both in my life 💜

This is why I don’t do great in relationships, I’ve been single for so long that i now value my own space and independence too much for someone to disturb that.

In the past I’ve made compromises in relationships, but often I’ve found that I’ve made all the compromises and got little back.

I'm much happier solo. I love having guests stay over but also love closing the door behind them when they leave.

I'm not cut out for relationships as I need too much alone time and headspace.

I don't know what it's like to live alone because we've been together 21yrs almost, since late teens and living together since we were 19yrs old. I don't feel any downsides to it at all. I can't imagine what life would be like without him in my life every day and pretty much all the time.

We live together, we work together, we generally hang out together. COVID lockdown and WFH for the same organisation was actually pretty decent, we didn't annoy each other at all and quite enjoyed being together all the time. We know this is weird but meh.

I value peace and solitude in all realtionships with friends, family and realtionships. I crave solo time. But I also love being around my best friends my connection with them has been over 30 years of friendship, they've been around through everything and we are always there for one another. Its strange how people just focus on realtionships with partners and not friends or family.

This. 💯

The only real downside for me in regard to living alone is having to pay all the bills by myself. 🤷‍♂️

There are pros and cons for both options.

With a partner the downside is a lack of freedom/independence/own space, the need to compromise more, rows and flashpoints, etc.

Being single the downside is lack of someone who gets you, not always someone to do stuff with, lack of intimacy-on-tap, all your own bills.

I think I'm newly single so miss certain aspects of the last relationship and haven't settled into Singledom yet.

It's not even sex for me, it's the kisses and cuddles I miss more.

Delightful Bliss

I'm happiest solo with fwb's.

I'm just not built to cope in a relationship, my need to wander and seek adventure is too strong, for me to be in a full time relationship.
