How do you get your loaf to have a nice oval shape rather than being mishaped or spherical. I end up having to watch it and intervene before the baking cycle starts. Also, even using the top browing setting, sometimes still need to top it up in the oven for that nice crispy brown top. This is meant to be top of the range german machine but there you go. I think I will go back to doing it all by hand

Due to the misshaped loaves it produces no doubt 😅

Let's see. At the moment looks like pinocchio with a pierrot hat on but still has another couple of kneading cycles to do so who knows

🤞🏻Don't forget to take the metal paddle thingy out the bottom of the bread before you cut it 😅

Well, happy as Larry. Perfect shape though not tasted it yet and also that kneading thing has disappeared inside the bread so have to be careful when cutting it

Me and bread machines don’t get on at all.

I forget to put the paddle in.

The whole loaf collapses.

The last bread machine had enough and jumped off the counter mid cycle.

I was gifted my parents bread machine - with the instructions and recipe book. So far, everything has turned out well. My favourite so far, the sandwich loaf. I want to try proving the dough to finish off as rolls in the oven.

Try making a drier dough. Usually if its too wet then it rises quickly with an air bubble under the crust which then collapses.

Thanks, I managed it yesterday by adjusting the ratios a bit.

I usually do that because I'm rubbish at slicing loaves and rolls are easier to freeze.

And more difficult if it is rye or wholemeal as I do. I made a white loaf before quite easily

Please don't take this as a criticism or such like just a curious question.... Why is the shape important? Perhaps it's just we grew up with home made oven soda and soda farls so are used to it simply being whatever shape came out of the oven/ off the griddle...

I know what you mean but if it is too high and round rather than oval, it has too much crump which I am not keen on
