Right now I'm diving back into Sherlock Holmes adaptations. They're not 'cosy crime' but they are comfort viewing of a sort - a different time, mysteries uncovered and resolved.

This is common knowledge but Conan Doyle, having created the ultimate figure of logical detection was himself a believer in spiritualism, attended seances and also believed the children who faked the photographs of fairies.

Christopher Nolan films. I'd half watched a couple of them but found them confusing.

I watched Interstellar for the first time the other day and was blown away. Couldn't stop thinking about it. So I (re)watched Inception. Watched Tenet for the first time. I've got Oppenheimer to (re)watch, Dunkirk. I'm looking for The Prestige on streaming sites and will hopefully watch Memento today or tomorrow. Batman films I've seen plenty of times so not that bothered about watching again.

And possibly less geeky and more crafty but Mr enjoys whittling/wood carving. It's a mindful hobby and distraction from a racing mind. Recently been looking at the bark of trees so he can recognise lime wood, ideal uk equivalent of basswood and relatively easy to carve

It turns out Joseph Lstiburek has a new update to his book "Builder's Guide to Cold Climates".

Love this stuff. Jo is a God. Larry Haun is also a beast. If you had 10,000 Hauns in Ireland and the UK, the physical problem part of the construction labour shortages would be actually over. He was just that wildly efficient at constructing low cost housing, he and his brother were knocking out completed shells in 2 days. For comparison Ireland and UK construction techniques would get you to the same place in multiple months and cost more. Yeah.

People complain about bad houses or affordability, which is fair, but you got to give social credit to the very best people if you want a new generation to develop the knowledge. Almost nobody in Ireland could name a famous builder, let alone a noteworthy Irish builder in our time, maybe they could name an architect or an engineer from the 18th century if you're lucky. Robotics isn't going to get us there, only skilled, motivated and intelligent real world articulation by people with assistant machines.
