Hopefully this thread can explain to me at what point the attraction of alternative types superceded the hatred and outrage against them. I.e. at what point did trendy (cool kids) types become obsessed with the concept of the (big titty) goth girlfriend. And does the same apply to females in an attraction to alternative guys ?

Edinburgh ish

When (most) people woke up and realised perceived societal norms and expectations were just a lot of narrow minded bullshit.

I.e: if you quite like the look of that “alternative” person over there then it is actually ok to be attracted to them. Instead of burying those feelings under a mountain of incorrect perceptions and expectations.

And that’s about all I have to say about that. Anyone for a box of chocolates? You never know what you’re gonna get.

All pretty good points. It's just I remember on multiple occasions being out in town with my friends and receiving not only verbal abuse but also actual attempted assaults just because someone had taken such offence at our appearance

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately, there are still far too many people getting all upset about what other people are doing.

I married your stereotypical geek guy WAYYYYYYY before it was deemed "cool". I married him because I adored (and adore). him and because he's handsome as fuck, more intelligent than anyone I've ever met and wasn't in the slightest bit fazed about becoming a step parent at the age of 17.

Geeks rule

no worries I know how to look after myself, tbh I used to find it funny they could get so angry at such trivial things. Itsthe people who defend themselves that used to annoy me.

Those people who make snap judgements or have unfounded views on people just because of what they look like or what they choose to wear, or listen to, or take part in are ultimately those people who miss out so much in life.

Our relationship is built on neither of us are the others natural type, but boy is it a fun, strong and long lasting relationship.

P.s. is any big titted goth girls want to come and say hello they are more than welcome lol.

I’ve always found goth girls attractive. This will probably rattle a few feathers but it was more the goth lads that looked like they hadn’t had a wash for a month that people didn’t like.

I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything after I've made a snap judgement that something about someone is unappealing to me

As a goth, I do this to ‘normal’ guys, they do nothing for me & all blend into eachother

This is all good stuff, I like the differing views. Life would be boring if we were all the same

I think it was only 2007 when Sophie Lancaster was murdered for being a goth. That was well into the 'goth girls are hot' process as far as my teen goth self knew. And well after suicidegirls became big. And long after I remember a friend laughing at his big brother for going 'emo' and the brother telling him he'd never had so much pussy in all his life.

The entirety of society will never agree 100% on something 💜

yes the Sophie Lancaster murder was a totally tragic event and highlights the kind of mindless thugs I was talking about before. This reminds me of a time I was with an ex girlfriend and two friends heading to a taxi stand at the end of a night out. Two d*unken thugs (grown men) were shouting abuse and throwing glass bottles at us as we walked past. Having not managed to provoke us they then turned their attention to a single guy a little further behind us who was a heavy metal fan. Punching and kicking him and trying to throw him through a shop window. Myself and the other male friend in our group decided we wouldn't stand for this and came to his aid, pushing back his attackers and helping him up. This all happened as four police men watched and did nothing.
