My wife knows someone who committed suicide because of it. So sad, can't imagine how bad it must of been for them.

I've a constant ringing in my ears, I notice it when I'm quiet like now in bed, I blame aircraft engines for the cause as I used to work in and around aircraft before the days of Health and Safety decreed that ear protection should be worn.

Years of rave music, bike racing and firing guns means I have it in both ears now, left is worse.

Wearing earplugs to sleep makes it even worse..

just recently changed to pulsate tinnitus which is more annoying..

I can understand how some are driven to suicide.

Anyone who suffers has my sympathy..

I got Tinnitus after Ear Infection in October 2022. It changes your whole World and literally made me question my whole existence. Thank god I discovered Julian Cowan Hill (Cranoscial Threaprist) and his Youtube Channel. This man helped me get back to a normal kind of life. Even if I had a Tinnitus Spike over Christmas due to taking Medication for Chest Infection and caused it too get more intensive. I highly recommend Cranoscial Threapy as its helped me to calm down the Flight and Fight Mode which causes Tinnitus to get so intense and horrible!

Don't give up Tinnitus people we can get better and even hear silence again!

Hi all mine has got worce over the last 10 years I cope with it. Mind fullness helps. But have never been a good sleeper ans that is getting harder.

Another bad sufferer here. It's linked to my overall health and wellbeing and it's a 2 way street. I agree with others, who recommended hearing tests. Plus reducing stress as much as possible.

Have mine from going to too many loud gigs, many Cathouse nights. Armed forces. Also menierrs disease in right ear. However, ex audiologist here...if you have a hearing impairment then you will hear your tinnitus louder than everyday sounds, if you don't have a hearing aid. If you have normal hearing and tinnitus, look at your stress levels and try to reduce them. Getting to sleep..if you don't want to buy a noise generator, white noise etc, then a radio on a timer to help mask your tinnitus.

Also people will say that their tinnnitus wakens them at night. Not the case...going through you sleep cycle when you get to the lightest level of sleep any outside noise can waken you. First thing you hear is tinnitus as background noise is so quiet at night. So you blame the tinnitus for waking you.

Did anyone suddenly develop tinnitus after the covid jab? Astra Zenica?

I had my first jab and within 3 hours developed tinnitus and had it ever since albeit with varying severity day to day.

I have heard a few similar cases

My hearing aids really help with mine, and use the Beltone Calmer app with them to pump sounds through and into my ears. That seems to help too

There is definitely something about focus and distraction. I was perusing the threads, completely unaware of my own. Had it 13 years now. As soon as I saw this thread, I became aware of it. It's very strange because it IS always there. But most of the time I am so focussed on something, I completely fail to hear it. I do consider myself very fortunate. From a very early age, (without tinnitus) I have had the ability to "zone out" and hyperfocus on things (or people and I believe that learned skill is definitely helping.

By the beach...

I have it mildly. Someone taught me a little trick that I was sceptical about but seems to ease it. For me anyway.

So with your opposite hand and with your thumb and little finger. measure the distance from the end of your little finger to where your hand meets your wrist. Transfer this up your arm so that your little finger is at the hand/wrist joint. And apply pressure where your thumb rests. Left arm for your left ear and vise versa. It dose relieve it for me?

I've had it for 15 years in my left ear. A constant high pitched hiss and lost about 70-80% of my hearing in that ear but I've learnt to live with it and ignore it so most of the time I'm okay. I do have to ask people to repeat themselves at times when chatting though which can be a bit frustrating for both. Probably have myself to blame for years of attending loud gigs and raves and always standing at the front near the speakers
