Have you got one? If not, why not?

Are they painful to get done?

If a woman has one on her lower back, is it still seen as a 'tramp stamp' these days? (I know this was often thought of a few years ago).

Interested on your views please as I'm possibly thinking of getting one.

I have, i found it more a discomfort than painful, but imagine there could be some places that do hurt more, also peoples pain threshold is different. You can have numbing cream applied if need it x

Hi, i have a couple of tattoos. 1 on my arm and 1 on the wrist with more to come in February or March!!!! The feeling i got is like a scratch feeling when getting tattooed, then after having them done is that it feels like you have got sunburn for a couple of days. Once you get one tattoo you want more.

Choose a good artist choose the position you want the tattoo as every one gets older.

Guy in Guernsey in the 80s had his head covered looked crap, some years later commited suicide,

Look at Thai and Vietnam some great artists so great use of colour and black work.

I have 6.

Pick somewhere reputable and an artist whose work you like - if that means a wait, that’s no bad thing. Be confident as you can you’ll like it in 20 years one and pick something that means something to you m. Don’t worry about the pain, it’s really not that bad although eating a d drinking in advance will help. Listen to your artist’s advice on what looks good where and aftercare.

Certain spots do have that ouch factor, I cannot handle more than 2 hours at a time on my tats. Definitely pick something that means something to you and take as long as you need to choose it. Good artists will be booked up months in advance, but cancellations do appear. There is a variety of aftercare techniques, listen to your artist and don't be afraid to ask them if something doesn't feel right

Good luck OP

I have a lot. Pretty big ones. Some places were fine others were v ouchy. It depends on the person also. Himself got one on his calf and it was v sore but i got one on calf also and i was grand. Everyone has different pain thresholds. Research what you want, research the artist and be prepared to pay for it as cheaper doesnt always mean better

I have 9 tattoos. One on my left thigh that goes up above my waist. My right thigh, my left foot and inner ankle, my right foot and lower leg, my left collarbone and my right shoulder, leftover arm and wrist, right inner wrist.

Areas near bone with little flesh such as ankles are more painful, but there's numbing creams to help whilst having ink.

I am in the process of researching my next piece, and I will use the same tattooist that has done all of my ink. I very much enjoy the planning stages, which can take considerable time. But I absolutely love the process of being tattooed, the pain and the noise of the tattoo gun, the music to listen to in the background, and catching up with my tattooist. I also enjoy the aftercare process.

Best of luck OP, it would be great to see your ink once you have had it done.

I have like 13 or so. I dont count.

Have a 'tramp stamp'. Its a nice one though.

Research research research

I have given my tattoo artist's name out to people soooo many times, even in Ikea 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ So word of mouth is key too.

If you see someone with a tattoo style you like, stop & ask them.

Ask to see their portfolio of work.

Any decent artist does not have a pre-made book of available pieces. They work with one off's for each client.

Oh & they should have a waiting time.

I've got two on each forearm. I used numbing cream when I had mine done so cheated a little but even when the cream wears off the pain isn't unbearable. The only thing I've done is to have things tattooed that are important to me, if it's on your body forever you need to think about it before getting it done. Most tattoos are personal and a lovely addition to anyone's body.

Yeah am covered in them been getting them since i was 17. it's very addictive! and can get expensive when your having big pieces done. Pain wise id say it depends where you're having it done as different areas feel different but on the whole it's a manageable pain once you settle in. All my tattoos have been 3hr + or full day session so couldn't really speak on smaller quicker ones. Don't be tempted to use numbing cream!! The pain is part of the process! I get a sort of "high" from it and 100% believe suffering a little makes it so much more rewarding! DM me if you have any questions I can help you with.

I have a couple that were done 18 months apart but combined as one.

I had zero interest in tattoos and had never considered getting one until just before turning 50.

At that time a couple of life changing and life affirming things happened that made me look at who I was and getting my first tattoo was my way of marking that moment as well as being a daily

reminder of the loss of a loved one.

There was very little pain involved but when I added to it that was quite painful because it was across my collarbone and chest.

In saying ah that I'm not a fan of tattoos in general or just for the sake of them because they often seem ill thought out and a bit of a mess.

If they tell a story and flow together then yes I'll agree that can be attractive.

I got one on the back of my right shoulder. Its a hummingbird dipping into a petunia flower, in honour of my late mum (her fave flowers) and my late Mum In Law (her fave birds)

It was vaguely scratchy getting it done, more uncomfy sat still for 4 and a half hours with cramp in the legs than the needle hurting.

It felt a bit sore like bad sunburn for a few days but it was worth it. No regrets whatsoever.

I would like a dreamcatcher with dangling feathers now on the top of my left thigh. Just been deciding what colours has held it up, because, obviously, its there for life so it has to be right.

Sounds like a plan! Not sure what you currently have in mind and in no way do I want to influence, but personally I always consider what it is I want, the size and position in relation to how it will interact with my body, contours, shapes etc. really good way to make them look like they are supposed to be there. If that makes sense?

Doesn’t matter much for a playboy bunny in the hip, but something I always consider when planning mine.

I'm wanting it on either my thigh or my back, need to decide that. "

One of mine is on my thigh and if it helps, the most uncomfortable thing was sitting in the same position for hours on end 🙂

As others have said, a decent artist can advise on the best positioning for your idea.

Not covered in them, but I've had a lot. What I've had so far, has been fine pain-wise, getting it done. I hate the healing process on big pieces, but it's worth it for me. I have another booked for next month.

Mr has 2, that he only got last year. And now he has the bug, and wants full sleeves 🤣

Got quite a few. Nothing spectacular.

Less painful than my nose piercings for sure 😫

Morning OP

I have a fair few in various areas of my body…some of which hurt more than the others ….

For me the wrist and the bend of the inner arm were the most sensitive / painful… but can’t be taht bad as I went back for more

I will be having more as soon as I can get an appt with a tattooist I have found …..

As for the ‘tramp stamp’ comment….. It’s all about where you want it …so wherever that may be it’s for you. Personally I don’t do back as when would I ever see it? I want to be able to look at the artwork on my canvas and enjoy it ….so mine go in plain view for me to enjoy
