If I'm spending time with someone, I might have one or two. It really depends on what we're doing.

If it's each other, no bars/pubs before, just a night in a hotel room, I'll drink a copious amount of water but it's unlikely I'll drink drink. At a social? Tequila is my best friend and nemesis.

The second part did say each to their own and that I am not a big drinker. Perhaps that is why I would not feel safe drinking a lot with someone I just met or getting drank and embarass myself especially if they are not drinking much or any at all. It really all depends on the situation and whether you are used to drinking etc. It's just not for me but could be perfectly fine for others.
