Evening all, happy New Years and all that!

I've decided I want to learn how to edit long format videos down into highlight reels... but am having a nightmare deciding what software to go with...

It's for editing down online Racing Commentary I do so I can make myself a portfolio

Any editors out there with recommendations..??

What computer do you have? Or are you looking for software on a phone/tablet?

iMovie for Mac is really basic, user friendly, and free. People take the piss but it's a good starter one, and means youll get on better if you want to move up to something like Final Cut Pro. If you just want to cut videos then you won't need anything too jazzy.

If you're using windows, the Id go for something you can edit online. Maybe Vid.io or canva. The beauty of those is they can add captions - which might be good for commentary.

Again, super editors will probably take the piss, but you're not looking to make the next Marvel film so keep it simple.

DaVinci Resolve - it's free (there's a paid "studio" version with advanced features) and it's pretty easy to use.

I wouldn't pay for any software if you're simply editing things down, though lots of people spring for the Adobe subscription.
