This year I learned…

Yes, it’s a retrospective thread, no, it’s not serious.

What did you learn this year? It can be as big or as small as you like, just an understanding that every year is a lesson of some sort.

This year I learned that doggers love Eurovision. Don’t ask me how I know but I know it’s true.

Over to you folks

I learned a lot about myself. The explanation is far too deep and serious for this time on New Year’s Eve so I don’t even know why I commented

I learned that after 45 years, a family member who I love very dearly has finally been through the mill enough herself that she can be trusted with more "truth" than she could process before.

She's chuffed to bits we've now connected at this deeper level, and I'm relieved not to have to give bite-sized chunks any more.

I'm gonna have to check the fine print, because I've learnt this over the years too. It's always in, never on 🙄😅

I can’t let that lie! How did you learn this?

I learned that having a more whiskery chin makes it strokably soft.

I learned to care less of what people think of me. It's early days, and work to be done, but still.

I also learned how to find myself again in this last quarter.

Thank you

I used to always be out. Needed to be out. Somewhere, anywhere. I’ve learned to be peaceful in my head and enjoy being at home.

I was always doing everything I could to win people’s approval. This year I learned I have it it don’t. I can’t win it.

When I stopped giving, people stopped asking. And disappeared from my life. I’ve learned to feel the weight of an undeserving piggyback.

So much! I learned:

That I can do my job just working my contracted hours and that, despite how busy I feel, I will always catch up eventually.

That I have a praise kink. I’d never heard that phrase before this year.

That I can control the rage.

The difference between history and prehistoric (thanks Mrs N).
