I have never had a special NYD dinner Maybe I've been missing out all my life!

What's changed for the NYD OP?

And can you give me some inspiration of your NYD dinners and I may have to get my thinking cap on 😃

I was planning it very similar to xmas dinner to be fair but hot smoked salmon and roasted beetroot salad with horseradish dressing for starter, a nice stuffed crispy porchetta with roasties and veg for main and a baked alaska for dessert.

I usually do a big roast but this year I’m keeping it simple with a lovely homemade lasagne, garlic bread and salad

New years day is going to be a naked day for us.

Empty house, some snacking food and hopefully some fun together

We are going to make a chicken, ham and leek pie. We've never made a pie before and we are even making the shortcrust pastry from scratch too. We are looking forward to doing it together and having a laugh.

I haven't thought that far ahead 🤔. The cupboard is pretty bare after Christmas so we might be having a make do meal

I'm doing another huge roast dinner today instead.

Tommorow will be party food style buffet and taking all the Christmas stuff down.

Just thinking out of the box here but some linguine could be an option if you like the stuff

Just doing a ham for New Year's Day supper.

Dinner will be a porchetta with some home made stuffing and some parsnip and carrot bhajis and roast potatoes. Pudding is my MIL recipe - Grapefruit splodge (lemon meringue pie filling with grapefruits then beat in meringues - I suppose it's a bit like a smoother grapefruit version of Eton Mess).

Afternoon of cribbage competition with whoever turns up.

BumBums - make sure you're holding tight to something - but I'm actually drinking ALCOHOL tonight .

It'll be a NYE dodgy doner, some gooey ice cream with choccy chunks, and red wine.

NYD - normal day, normal food.

My parents used to do one when we were little. We've never done one. We have a buffet NYE, and usually have BBQ pulled pork on the go in the slow cooker. Then have a lazy NYD with pulled pork baps (or whatever you call them 😅) and whatever snacks that are leftover from Xmas

Out with the lads I see. Drinking, dirty kebabs and back alley shenanigans. And I always thought you were classier than that

Not bad at all. You get used to it after a while and you can try it with different things

Problem is these days taking the family out for a pub lunch requires taking out a small loan to be able to afford it!

You are not wrong there. Even the special deals they used to do seem to have all but disappeared

My family used to have steak pie, mashed turnip and potatoes on either Hogmanay or New Year's Day but it's something we haven't done for quite some time.

Usually I do a nice roast with some yummy desert but my diet is kicking in tomorrow so instead it’s gonna be salmon veg and baby roasted potatoes.

Sometimes do a roast but the kids don't want another one so we're having sausage and mash with some nice veg and gravy tomorrow.
