"Don't buy alcohol Don't go to a bar " Sound advice 😅

"Don't make new years resolutions, make lifestyle changes." This!! Just make some positive lifestyle changes. My advice is quit drinking for two weeks, then a month and on. Set smaller goals rather than huge ones off the bat

"Any tips on success?" Can we ask what the reason is? Ie, Health, dependency, just a challenge, don't like it?

"Any tips on success?" Volunteer for back to back operational tours or follow the AA guide I guess. One step at a time if you are really serious.

"I’ve cut back on drinking a lot over the last year. Basically the best way to do it is to become a house hermit. People treat you like a weirdo if you go out and don’t drink." Not drinking alcohol is very socially acceptable these days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

"Any tips on success? Can we ask what the reason is? Ie, Health, dependency, just a challenge, don't like it?" This will go a long way to how difficult it will be to stick to it. Intent and determination are swayed by them

"Any tips on success? Can we ask what the reason is? Ie, Health, dependency, just a challenge, don't like it?" Just a challenge I compete a lot in Hyrox so want to rule out anything that doesn't add to my fitness

Just a challenge I compete a lot in Hyrox so want to rule out anything that doesn't add to my fitness " Oh so in honesty I think you'll find it pretty easy to just swap for a no-alcohol beer/cider Wine is harder to swap, but there are some nice botanicals available now as an alternative

Not drinking alcohol is very socially acceptable these days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It is more acceptable but for some reason people think it’s ok to say “one won’t hurt” when it comes to drinking or dieting. They wouldn’t do that to an ex smoker or addict but it seems to be fine to do it to people who just want to live a healthier lifestyle.

"Any tips on success?" Take medical advice. Depending on how much you drink it may be harmful to just stop it....Book a GP appointment and plan it. I don't drink, was married to an alcoholic who's Dad was also an alcoholic. I believe alcohol to be more dangerous as any class A drug because the danger hides in plain sight under the guise of social acceptance

"Tell you something I’m a big fan of Thatchers cider and wanted to try the 0% one they recently brought out. It’s actually my favourite now " The Guinness Zero is amazing too

"Any tips on success?" Yeah don’t. I’d say try and not drink as much or to excess, but don’t make it a challenge to completely stop as you’ll fail at some point. I don’t usually drink and been that way a long time. I don’t drink alcohol alone in house. One of my few ‘rules’ but I do drink with company and did that a couple of times recently and enjoyed it

Not drinking alcohol is very socially acceptable these days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I tend to disagree. I've never tasted alcohol in my life. Every single one of my friends and colleagues were drinkers but I chose not to and it had nothing to do with health. Only once when I was 18 or 19, so more than 40 years ago, did someone comment negatively on the fact I didn't drink. If people around you are making comments like you suggest I would consider who you are hanging out with rather than what you are drinking.

It’s colleagues, family members and even strangers when you’re out and about. I online in Newcastle where drinking culture is just a part of life though so maybe that’s why my experience differs from other’s.
