"Personal the more tattoos the better for me I like People with something about them lol" I'm the complete opposite. When I worked as amanager, I would refuse to hire anyone with visible tatoos. In my personal life, I have never, and will never date anyone with tatoos. It's a total red line for me. Even just general sex is often a "no" from me if she has too many tatoos.

Well, it depends on what the tatoos are, where they are, and how customer facing the job would be. I simply had a blanket ban on anyone working front of house with tatoos. Piercings and jewelry were also banned. Clothing had to be a certain type, and worn a certain way. These things are called "standards", and are important. I also refused ot hire smokers.

You wouldn't want a DR to wear cut up jeens, be covered in nazi tatoos and smoking a fag while their treetign you now would you? When people work for a company, they are expected to project the correct image, and not smell like filth. So, front of house, customer facing roles the rules were simple. No tatoos, No jewelry (mostly for practical health and safety reasons) and no smokers (partly because they stink, and partly because of health and hygiene. )

But tattoos (once healed) do not fall into that category. There is no one size fits all anymore. Dont judge a book by its cover. I get judged because of my tattoos but ppl dont know the 1st thing about me.

" So, front of house, customer facing roles the rules were simple. No tatoos, No jewelry (mostly for practical health and safety reasons) and no smokers (partly because they stink, and partly because of health and hygiene. Standards are one thing - like making sure people are hygienic within a workplace , something like that is obviously expected and can be mentioned in the correct way and raised if needed with someone . Old fashioned views on people's appearances (not meaning scruffy/clothing etc) isn't something that's allowed anymore. Many high class establishments and forward facing roles employ people that are what you are classing as low standard types of people. You are not there to judge them by looks, it's job capability now. Running your own business- sure have really backwards views on people. But anywhere else you'd not have a leg to stand on these days judging someone how you currently do. " I have not mentioned peoples IQ or as being low or sub standard people. It is about having high standards overall. And about presenting the correct image. Where I worked, (mainly restaurants) presentation was essential. Are we to allow the chefs to simply pour mixed slop onto a plate because they feel like it? No. Should people be able to do and wear whatever they want, simply because they want to? Also no. Jewelry must be removed for numerous reasons. Make-up, and perfume must also be neutral or absent. Tatoos must not be visible at all. The easiest way to ensure Tatoos can not be seen, is to simply not hire anyone with tatoos. People in front of house roles, MUST be held to a high standard of presentation. Someone with bones through their nose, and an inscape of swasticas on their face is big fucking no! Woudl you be happy to book a room at the most expensive restaurant in London, only be served by someone with "i like cunts" written on there forehead, while wearing piss stained jeens, and flip flops?? Of course not. Appearance matters. Standards matter. You cannot simply do what ever you want, when ever and wherever you want to. And if you do, well, that speaks volumes about you as a person. And those people are not the oens I would ever have hired. It' a great shame we have abandoned all standards, civility and decency. If you want to cover youself with ink, that is your right. It is also my right, as a manager, to not hire you.

" It's really weird that you keep referring to people with tattoos as people with nazi affliantions and having swastika tattoos when the two things are in the slightest but related. It shows that not only are you judgemental but also ignorant. Having 'standards' is one thing but judging people based on their appearance (as you have several times) is a whole other kettle of fish. Also one of my best friends is a dr and she is very very heavily tattooed, would you refer her to look after you cause she has tattoos and in your eye, must be a nazi?

Nor did 'outrageous' hair colours (gods bless utterly unenforceable wording in staff handbooks and uniform policies). Nor did any of the people I worked with with discreet or artistic tattoos seem to have any issue. Though perhaps our better volume of tips came from the prissy arseholes who didn't want to be served by the likes of us and instead went to the most uniformed people to give them the bare minimum or less. But in terms of customer compliments and NPS scores, us weirdos rocked it. Obviously most people aren't hiring the idiot with I love cunts across their forehead. Or swastikas. Or other obviously offensive words or imagery in commonly uncovered places. But a small animal or flower to represent a deceased loved one, something artsy to hide a scar or birthmark, or just something simply a part of their expression that isn't doing anyone any harm? Grow up 💜

"Interestingly I’ve always found more stigma and judgement associated with my septum piercing than any visible tattoos " I've had the occasional negative comment, but I think it just suits my face somehow. I did originally turn it up to hide it at work, forgot one day and just left it, and it took over a week for my boss to notice even though we were face to face every day.

I always just left mine there unless specifically told to take it out, then I turned it up! Some people don’t even see it, some people seem to zone straight in on it! The you look like a cow comments etc etc wore off eventually, but that was the one piercing I found to be offensive to some
