So here's a puzzle for you, something I've worked out that's happening to me. Let's see if you can figure it out aswell.

So, the verifications I choose to display sometimes doesn't match the number of verifications published.

This usually happens after I've 'showed' online, logged out for a few minutes and then logged back in a few minutes afterwards.

The verifications I've published are still the same, but the number has gone up by x1, but the 'extra' veri doesn't display...

Why do you think this is?

I know the answer, but I'm curious as to know if anyone else can work it out.

It feels like the site runs using a lot of caching so I guess it is waiting for a process to update a cache somewhere.

Trust me, it’s bad code. These kind of sites written 20+ years ago I have very little available for session and application management. Add on 20 years of privacy around cookies and you need to write very robust code to make numbers of things stay correct.. there’s lots of examples like the one you found such as logging out and logging back and checking numbers of things it’s very normal

Just to be clear, the number does eventually settle to the correct number and reduces itself back to normal.

It DOES have something to do with 'refresh rate' of sorts, but it's not the coding... trust me

Trust me, I know about these things. I’ve managed more sites than you have ever visited..

Cache-Control, Pragma, and Expires Are all controlled by using GOOD code
