I've got a 3-week window for a summer holiday of my choosing this year and the question is do I go alone or find a travelling companion between now and July?

Go alone. You can explore where you want and you might well find a “partner in crime” en route - they always make a solo trip more fun!

Somewhere near here

I love solo travelling, I went alone on 4 trips this year, I highly recommend it.

Over the years I’ve travelled a lot to most of the continents usually for work occasionally for holidays

In holiday situation, sometimes you see the most fantastic things and a camera shot or a video means nothing unless you share it with someone

Recently I was working in South America where it really was quite hard work but the time off was so incredible during the contract that I really wish I could’ve shared it with dear friends

Travelling alone has got its real advantages particularly if forces you to meet people and talk to people and self-sufficient which is part of some peoples DNA

I’m not a beach person. I certainly will be off exploring whether there are times when you need both being on your own and then finding something which you want to share.

Certainly planning anything is 70% of the experience in my opinion

I'd plan on going alone, especially as I love traveling regardless. And am happy to get together with people there, or have people join me - you could end up with a friend booking the same trip, after you're booked, so you still get the holiday that you want

If I had the option to I’d love to go travelling alone. Loads of my mates did it when they were younger and I thought they were mental but now I’m older with all the responsibilities that come with it I wish I’d gave it a go.

I normally prefer to go away with a friend - just not much of a solo traveller, but see how much people rave about it, so am actually going to try and get better at it.

That said, OP, linking back to another thread of yours, have you considered a group holiday for solo travellers? Might be a good way of making friends, too.
