So how is everyone feeling now the festive season is pretty much over?

I’ll be honest my mood has slumped, I had a bad year feeling low as it was but it seems to have dropped to a new low at the moment.

What do people do to pick themselves up?

I’ve actually been good and booked counselling for the beginnng of January as I need to sort myself out but what other things do people find help?

Getting outside or just going out for a coffee helps lift my mood.

The bit between Christmas and new year can be a bit depressing though can't it.

I’ve really enjoyed/still enjoying catching up with people. I find not ‘bigging things up’ helps not crash after,

This time is a bit of a strange period. I find myself torn between not getting out of bed (other than for food!) and just reading and staying warm versus getting wrapped up and going for a long walks in the peaks or arranging socials.

Next Door

I've always found the time between Xmas and New Year flat.

The weather has helped, its been damp/grey and quite depressing.

Maybe go out for a coffee and people watch for a while. Or go out for a walk.

I hope your mood improves soon OP

My mood has slumped today, but that is quite usual for a Sunday, as opposed to being (end of) festivity related - if ever I find a mood drop, it's normally a Sunday

Never mind though, work is back again tomorrow to return a sense of familiarity, normality and a busy, pre-occupied brain

Today is a chore kinda day - I've done the sofa / trite TV combo this morning, so a bit of ironing, a bit of cleaning, a bit of cooking, a beard trim and a long, hot, shower will see me through til evening

To be honest never really got into Christmas I tried to but as it got closer the reality of it being the exes turn to have our daughter for Christmas set in

I told my mam when I seen her Boxing Day I wanted a decent stretch of time to myself as last year she came round uninvited every single day of the holidays and she lasted a day and had been the last two days ffs, I reminded her again today I want left alone but see how long it lasts, it’s shit like this just makes me wish I was back at work

The kids won't let me slump, it's all go, go, go. This week will be full of entertaining small people before they go back to school and I can have some down time then. For me, booking in quality time with friends, is all the therapy I need

Yes that was me I’ve told her several times (once very bluntly) since then but it lasts a week or two at most before falling into same routine, I’ve pretty much accepted it’s never going to change now

Feeling a tad un-nerved as it's coming to a time of the year that last year I lost two people very close to me and various things happened that affected me. Axious as I don't know how I will feel this year.

It's been a nice Christmas break though

I've enjoyed having a few days being lazy and hibernating in gremlin mode, not having to worry about the stress of work has been great. I have another week off where I'm gonna try and see more people and get out a bit more.

I felt pretty low this christmas to be honest. I feel my brothers loss at this time of year like no other and its the anniversary of his passing on 9th Jan, so am not looking forward to that and feel in a hole really until that time passes.

This year seems to have been the time when my mum and dad have got really old and forgetful, don't mention christmas dinner.. I worry about them and also can't help but think of the other people in my life that are no longer here to share it.

I spend as much time as I can busying myself with other things but it doesn't always work.

I know I can look forward again from 10th January.

I feel it's been a roller coaster year lots of ups and downs, joining here was an up but had a few downers since until my first meet was a big lift but feel a decline again since especially today was hoping to meet someone but everyone I've been talking to has been offline alot of today so it ultimately didn't happen, getting more Xmas gifts for myself has been a lifter though. Still time for another meet though before the end of the year which would lift me back up once more 😃

Good decision. I had some counseling this year. It made such a difference and helped me allow myself to feel better.

I’m feeling the blues also but don’t feel as bad as I probably would have. tbh just want to get NY over and back to work.

I guess it's common to feel low after the hype of Christmas. Although it can be a depressing time of year for some. Self care is crucial, I've done lots of walking, napping, reading. Making the most to recharge

Just posable she is struggling and needs to get out, I know this dose not help you. I have lost both mum and dad so enjoy when you can. Good luck.

It's been really lovely. Exhausting and a tad overstimulating at times but I don't mind that because I've spent time with friends and family.

The next couple of days are going to be very low energy with self care aplenty. Lots of reading, long hot showers and catching up on sleep. No more people.

Not a fan of this time between. Usually I’d be back at work but this year we’re closed until next week.

Sending hugs to all that need. These days between Christmas and new year are always a challenge!

I've struggled this year more than ever. I try to keep myself busy it's the time where you're sat around that you feel it the most. Is there anything around the house that needs doing? Could you start and finish a project before return to work?

I have loads to do around the house. It’s finding that motivation. When my mood drops like this I struggle doing anything.

I can relate to that. Maybe set yourself small achievable goals each day. Like going for a short walk or doing some simple exercises.

I had an amazing, fun, loving, happy Christmas; I'm buzzing now and enjoying every day.

My happiness levels are usually very high anyway, having a great chrimbo has just added to what is already a satisfying life.

I guess having a simple life and finding pleasure in the most basic of things helps.

I’ve had a pretty bad year on all fronts, Fab included. The cherry on the top was lonely Christmas with something I thought was viral but turned out to be more serious and ended up in hospital. To top it up both kids are now coming up with something, which means even more worry and stress. To be honest, I just sit with that sadness and hope for the best while trying to keep positive face to the world. I look forward to spring and more sunshine but it’s just like sticking plaster on the unhealed wound.
