The land of grey peas and bacon

I cannpt believe that there are so many... Is it not something that needs to be better regulated... In order for it to be harder for gambliers to gamble?

The government are relaxing restrictions rather than tightening them up at the moment which is just not right.

I haven't researched it, but I did wonder if all these gambling sites were just run by the same few companies that just want to keep on attracting folk in with new and crazy names for the same old game of Bingo.

Indeed, a quick search of the old 'Encarta' reveals that there are 'Bingo Networks' which share players and allow for fast start ups :-

There are a number of sites that will have the same promotions, similar graphics, the same bingo rooms and the same CMs. This occurs because they are part of a bingo "network". In simple terms, this means a number of different sites (or "front ends") are playing with the same numbers for the same jackpot (i.e., the same back end). Multiple sites act as doorways to a single game, leading to larger pools of players in chat rooms and more sizable pots to win, in an arrangement known as White Label Gaming.[5] While the bingo software is the same, the brand owners are responsible for the look and feel of the site, together with any promotions they wish to offer. This is an important feature of online bingo in that it is critical that any site have enough players to have a decent sized game. Hence, the bingo network "shares" players. Some operators choose not to pool their players together and because they segregate their players, they operate on a stand-alone network, which again can be via "white label" or can be done through the use of proprietary software.

Where do you stop though?

Online food, booze, tobacco etc.

What has happened to individual responsibility?

Don't get me started on this, also the amount of betting shops that seem to be popping up everywhere....

It is but its like drinking or taking drugs if its shoved in your face and with promotions such as deposit £20 and we will give you £50 free play... I agree it is down to the person but when they are addicted and dependant then its hard...

We need some way to stimulate the economy, because the current world fiscal policy / plan isn't doing a hell of alot of Europe and the USA.

May be we all just need one big game of international Bingo as a way to solve the debt crisis?

So how do you go about making things harder for addicted gamblers to gamble?

The trouble with the Internet is that it's not the 'property' of any country or government - so although there is regulation it may not be regulated by your own government.

Advertising is also regulated - on a national basis so half the problem stems from the ability to attract new customers via the TV, press and email! Too easy to attract the wrong audience.

But then the same could be said of payday lenders and 'accident ' claims companies, PPI refund businesses and over 50's insurers - all of whom suck people in with promises they often fail to keep!

Because gambling is addictive and ruins people's lives, destroys relationships and breaks up families as a consequence. Its an addiction like narcotic addiction and alcoholism.

If I had the answer to that I'd be a happy woman but I don't.....

It's not gambling, narcotics or alcohol that destroys people its the people who " get addicted to it" that ruin lives x
