Hey how are you seems like a copy and paste job but launching straight into what turns you on seems a bit presumptive and rude also.

That’s interesting. It’s definitely hard to start with small talk and pivot to a flirty or sexy conversation so that’s a good opening topic.

I like upfront but not into sex talk, as too many just message, whilst they want. You need to make it clear from your tone and content, that you are not doing that. Otherwise, if you're friendly and respectful, then it's not off-putting and I'll take a look at your profile, to see if we may match. Avoid emphasis on the sex OP, for most of us. And have a profile that's good for you

You beat me to it. When I used to message there was no rhyme or reason to success. Sometimes a simple 'Hi, how's you?' would get a better response than a longer one. Sometimes humour, sometimes not. It's all about the follow up and maintaining chat. Decent chat. Not boring shite.

Possibly, like you I check the pictures and bio anyway. I find women don't tend to do the witty one liner and just do the 'hi' thing and throw in a nice comment. Because, let's face it most women on Fab are nice and good at short, sharp and to the point. And of course, men aren't inundated with cold call 'Hellos'

I look at the profile before I even open the message… then what level of effort I’ll tolerate/reply to depends on compatibility.

A simple ‘hi’ from a guy with a decent profile, clean and clear pic, and a realistic distance or suggestion on how organising a meet would go logistically works fine.
