I often think that the truest compliment is something that someone says about you to others, not to you. In this vein, what’s the nicest thing that you’ve heard said about you?

Other than "I've heard he holds the swankiest group Åfternoon Teå Soirées...".

Other than that I haven't heard anything. I think I need to make a better impression.

Alas, I’ve never heard anything nice about me through the grapevine. I was once told that somebody was saying deeply unkind and hurtful things about me to others. When I asked what, she said I was much better off not knowing. I figure no news is good news. Xx

I heard via a mutual friend that someone thought I was a good egg. I like that ❤️

My actual best ever compliment was from my child when we were snuggling a few years ago - “Mummy, you’re the softest and the warmest.”

My mum said life would be boring without me.

I quite liked that.

My eldest has called me kind but then added that I wasn’t funny.

So….could be worse I guess

That's the second time I've heard/read that in the past 24 hours and it confuses me. To my mind what is said about me, whether to my face or not, is my business as it's about me. I'd genuinely like the sentiment explained.

So the sentiment is this, why would I concern myself with something I'm never going to know on the whole...quite simple really if someone chats shit behind my back, that's OK. It's an opinion. You why it's ok two reasons.

1) People can not and do not judge me any harsher than I do myself.

2) The opinion I hold of myself, is one based in self-worth and self-awareness, I know what I bring and where I fall short.

When I was at uni, one of the freshers on our faculty council told someone that when they'd first seen me, they thought I was this wild d*unk tearaway of a student who'd do anything just to be outrageous. Then after being on the council for a while, they found themselves wondering how they could be more like me. It's one of the most flattering compliments I've ever received.

Hmm, I dunno I don’t look for compliments or particularly think that way. I can’t directly influence what others think or say about me, so it’s outside my control and I can only be who I am.

I’ve seen comments or verifications and welled up at times at kind comments, but again, it’s outside my control it whatever

Exactly what others thinks, say or do I'm powerless over, so why would I devote time, cognitive energy to it 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Ummm one time at Chams, a regular and a member of staff had a conversation about me (in front of me) and discussed how they both thought i was really scary when they first met me but now they know me they realise that's not true and they really like me... is that the sort of story you meant?!

Not exactly said about me, but one of the nicest things that have shown what someone thinks about me is when my step daughter crashed her car. After skidding unnoticed off a wet motorway and ending up with the vehicle on its side with a tree through the back seat, whilst still trapped in the car she didn't call the police, her mum or her dad but instead chose to ring me.

Not spoken words exactly but I'm quite proud of what that says about me.

Only ever had that in work where someone has told me a.n.other person has sung my praises. If anyone has said owt in the real world, I've not heard it (now I'm worried!)😳

In this world, I had two friends who, having not met each other before, ended up at one of the UTB socials, each messaging me d*unken compliments from the other, that was nice; ...especially the photo they sent of the two of them together with 'wish you were here'! 🤗
