A couple of weeks ago I posted two social meets to celebrate my birthday. Rather predictably I dint get nuffink (this isn’t a grumble) and it got me wondering:

Gents - do you tend to find you get some interest if you post a meet? Or the usual inbox tumblw33d?

Ladies - I know your inboxes are always full, but do they blow up if you post a meet? Do men suddenly go off the horn scale with anticipation and get even more frustrated when you don’t respond with a picture of your sopping minge and an invitation to dine at it?

I've posted the odd meet before, when I've had plans and for whatever reason they didn't happen.

On all occasions I could count on one hand the number of responses I got.

As a single, yes I found it triggered a fair bit of activity. But how much of it was of any use? Limited. Mostly just men saying “I’ll meet you” - what, with no chat at all? If I put up a social meet it was really intended to signal to my friends who might be free which never worked out, not gather the masses hoping for a car quickie.

In terms of looking at meets, by the way, I only search if I’m going to a club event and want to see who’s attending.

I've never put one up for that so I can't help. I've put them up for club/group social events so other who are going can say hello.

Myself and Midnight both responded to a social meet one once and ended up getting ghosted. We had a brilliant evening though! 🤣🤣🤣

What I’ve found a little odd is when I post a meet like that and get a bunch of responses saying ‘I’d love to meet you tonight but I can’t because of childcare or transport or work or something.’

I’d understand if those were from friends, but it’s total strangers. I guess they’re just using the meet as an opening to say hi.

Isn't it strange, a site for meeting and when you post offering one noone is interested. I've posted several meet requests here and on the other fab site and it really is a lottery if you get a response. I have never got a reply if it is just a social group meet. Also it doesn't seem to matter if it is a post for a weekend or mid week. You just have to post and hope, and maybe have a back up plan just in case.

I have in the past, but you get folk trying to alter the arrangements to suit them. E.g I can’t meet at 12 can we meet at 4, can we meet in Town rather than local.

I've posted for a fuck'n'go type meet in an hotel before a club or social and we got the "can't do Friday but I could do Sunday" type replies.

I just assume they didn't read the advert properly

Oh, most times I get nothing.

I travel around a lot and I post a meet up when I’m going to be in a different city for a couple of nights. Usually nothing comes of it. Sometimes I get those ‘I’d love to meet but I can’t’ responses. I think *once* I met someone amazing and had a night of fabulous sex.

I never have full inbox and I rely on „looking to meet today” thing as I cannot plan in advance.

I prefer of course to meet someone I’ve already met but often times everyone has already got plans, or family commitments as it’s Saturday.

Needless to say, I was never successful with posting a meet so can’t be bothered anymore.

Also replied to a few, and it's very interesting that goalposts get moved depending on which of us is replying and what the advertised meet is looking for!

I get hundreds of messages- absolute hundreds when I post up a meet.

But that does not guarantee in any way, shape or form that I will definitely fet a meet, social or orherwise. I go through messages the best way I can and go by their profile- photos, do I like what I see? Height- yes, I am one of those pesky ones to whom height matters, how articulate they are and even then I spend some time messaging to see if they fit what I am looking for. Uf they don’t, I don’t meet. Simple as that.

It would be very rare for me to reply to a meet up post. I’d have to be totally attracted and fascinated by the people in question and that doesn’t happen often.

It was a few months back. I was planning a visit to Ipswich and posted an "Add a Meet" two weeks before that. It was just for a social and to meet any forum dwellers who might be from around there. The following day I received a reply from a rather delightful young lady whose charm matched the delightfulness of her profile.

Other than that I don't really post meets. Perhaps I should... ...

My only experience is receiving a message from a couple who regularly appeared in my local updates and seemed to be advertising for meets every week.

Every one of their posts said they were looking for a woman or couple and would block any man who tried getting in touch.

They had men blocked from messaging anyway and the first line of their profile was in capital letters saying that there was no circumstance ever where they would even consider meeting a single male.

They sent me a lovely message that just said facepic and phone number now or fuck off.

I often wondered if that was their general attitude how successful they were with their meet requests.

I've done it several times over the years. It can magnify the volume of inappropriate or appropriate messages that you get, depending on how much you welcome extra hard work

and getting contacted by the seemingly clueless, perhaps when you don't have a lot of time to sort and prepare.

Whichever day it's for, a good 10% will let you know that they can't do that day

Perhaps the solution is to have negative meet posts - post what you can't do and when you can't do it, or something like that
