Away for Christmas

Not enough to put any of them on a pedestal.

Always remember one persons hero is another person's villain. I'm not naming names but there are some names that may/have/will appear with praise end up being somebody that also comes with a lot of negative for others.

There are plenty I would have liked to still see around, and would be happy to see just as many never return.

I remember a few with a smile and a few with a grimace.

Amongst the ones that bring a smile are

Maryfuckingpoppins and various other derivatives on the same theme.

AceWinger and his massive clock

Lickety

Annabelle

Suzuki no1

ThunderAce.

But there are plenty who have filled the gaps they leave so the cycle continues.

My “heroes” were from my time of need and both know who they are (and I’m not being ironic)

I’d like to think I’ve been welcoming, but certainly don’t need to be named.

And yes there are a few names here that have almost made me consider leaving…. But naaaah fuck them.

I’m sure you weren’t deliberately overlooked chap. I recall you posting a lot but we haven’t really chatted. Certainly on my threads I try not to reply to everyone because I want it to run freely. Those I chat to regularly I’ve know for years, so those connections took a while to build up and no small amount of perseverance.

I remember Queen Leviosa (can't remember her full username) when I first joined in 2018. She was hilarious. She was due to have a baby late 2018/early 2019 (my memory is terrible). Has she been back since then?

Too often his posts became launchpads for very nasty attacks against minority groups, with any fight back likely to result in the ban of the minority not the majority. Tom not the only one doing this of course, but he was one of the voices making a definite impression. Could be that I'm just too thin skinned, but those types of post gradually turn parts of the forums into a "death by a thousand cuts" experience for some of us, particularly over a period when much of society seems to have lurched towards hatred not tolerance.

Sorry, I'm getting too depressing and wandering off topic, as I always do, especially as it's Christmas Day.

Fond memories and good wishes for many who have gone, names that I can't recall (there's a scientific term for the syndrome of not being able to recall names, but I can't recall it...) Polly xxx

I'm always curious about the different perceptions on these forums in regards to particular personas.

There are people who always get a mention and it's therefore no suprise that they have been mentioned in this thread also but I sometimes raise an eyebrow at who mentions them because I respect most of what those making the nomination say on other threads but couldn't disagree more strongly on this topic.

Some of those being named as lovely and inclusive and sorely missed are on a shortlist of the only forumites to have actively tried to drive me out of the forums with their private messages and snide public comments which have been xenophobic, dismissive and not worthy of a 12 year old in a playground.

I totally get that those who have met these characters would have an entirely different opinion on them but a truly genuine person would not need to act the cunt in private and the fact that some of them are unable to post in the forums would tell me that I wasn't their only target.

There are still some grenade launching posters who are also regularly lauded for their contributions even when they have to hide from the fallout of their own words and must carry a full deck of victim cards.

These threads are prone to predictability. They start off with the best of intentions, rightly or wrongly, and then fall into the abyss of notoriety when a certain name has been mentioned.

I'll repeat verbatim on a similar thread that I commented on recently — there is one name that came up ^ with a favourable mention but I'll redress the imbalance of that opinion: that person personified toxicity with repetitive grenade-laden threads and posts that would lead to intervention by the mods, threads that preyed upon those who were vulnerable or struggled with mental health and were unable to defend themselves or subjected invective remarks within the fora and took much delight without any guilt or remorse.

I know what you are saying, but my opinion of whom you elude too was, that they were merely a conduit for others to reveal their true colours and highlight the hypocrisy of many on here.

Many comments have been made regarding how some people are eulogised, whilst hiding a darker side, at least there was no hiding of anything with this forumite and their posts trapped others into exposing themselves for what they were.

Everyone will have their own opinion, and as we know opinions are neither right nor wrong, they are just opinions.

To be serious, it's mainly men that come to mind like F&B and Thumper who I genuinely got along with on a really good level 'bro' wise. GeordieJeans too. Then there was a couple based in North West who met F&B one time and they all sent me a selfie together - can't remember their name but they were awesome!

The only women I remember was cause they so aggressively hated me 😂.

Then lemon of course because she is the perfect combo of cute, sexy, and silly. Absolute babe.

There are plenty I would have liked to still see around, and would be happy to see just as many never return.

Wise words Kai. Recent posts really make this ring true.

I don't agree about putting people on a pedestal by mentioning them on this - sometimes people truly deserve to be mentioned. I miss Lickety an awful lot. Oh well!

But Lickety was a thoroughly decent person, who also gave so much, to so many. She's on my pedestal, for being such a lovely human. It's good to share our tender warmth for her

That's very, very true - thank you for reminding me it's okay to celebrate and put some on a pedestal. Lickety really deserves to be. x"

She was a true giant, seen without a pedestal.

"Not enough to put any of them on a pedestal.

Always remember one persons hero is another person's villain. I'm not naming names but there are some names that may/have/will appear with praise end up being somebody that also comes with a lot of negative for others.

There are plenty I would have liked to still see around, and would be happy to see just as many never return. "

Ditto.

as I said, I'm crap with names, so apologies if you're still about; but who was it that could turn any thread into a Jack Grealish appreciation thread?! That was no mean feat, but executed flawlessly!! 🤣🤣

She really was a lovely person. Rachelx with the blonde hair, long legs n short tartan skirt... not to mention the heels.

Or was it a gold skirt..... anyway matters not she was well liked by me and for no other reason than she was a good person.

I've gone and done it now. I ignored this thread as I don't favour this type of thread much ..... but ffs.... I forgot myself and bang there I was.

There are so many who haven't been mentioned and that is not because they are not remembered but simply because the people who respond don't remember them.

Silly type of threads these but ...... it's like soap operas innit ... people love them .

Lickety was just awesome

Ridiculously intelligent, possessed astuteness in boundless abundance and yet had this endearing, friendly, bumbling clumsiness about herself in person

She came at you with open arms and an open heart

One in a million

There's one other gorgeous person, who I care about deeply from here, but thankfully we're still in touch away from Fab despite her not being here any longer
