Which drink gives you the worst hangover?

Jump to newest

For me... strangely, it has to be red wine. I don't know why, but it gives me the worst headache in the morning... even if I've not overdone it.

What about you all?

I don't get hangovers. Drink just enough and no more.

Suggestion to prevent a hangover the next day:-

Take one ibuprofen and a half pint of water before bed. Most hangovers are caused by swelling of the brain. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory.

As I'm a fussy drinker I don't mix grape and grain. This may be why I never really get hangovers. The only times I have it could just as easily been alcoholic poisoning given the amount I drank and the last time that happened I helped a mate through 3 litres of gin and tonic. I suspect the copious amount of alcohol, and quinine caused the problem the next few days.

What springs to mind: -

Vodka and Lime when I was 18, never touched it since.

Rum and Black when I was 21, never touched it since.

Whiskey and pernod mixed, after a few sessions realised that it is extremely not conducive to feeling well in a morning, never touched it since.

Lager, Port and Vodka mixed, never touched it since Queens funeral, hangover for a week.

Any drink with alcohol in it. It all depends on how much I drink.

Over the past 50 years I never drink to intoxication so I do not get a hangover. But in my youth it was a problem occasionally.

Actually alot of truth in this due to the woodworm Frass dust which contains a narcotic in real absinthe ( usually over 50% proof more more 70% hence the need for sugar and hot water )

Beware … ☠️
