Cheshire

The Wye Valley, or if that's too far, the Shropshire hills or Ironbridge. Beautiful, quiet, and terrible mobile reception, so fewer distractions.

Two hours from Birmingham is a large area, especially by train. That brings London in to account

It depends what you’re looking for.

There are some amazing lodges in the Cotswolds with hot tubs or in Shropshire.

2 hours will get you to the coast of north wales where there’s some beautiful places

So really depends what you’re looking for

Yes! I was thinking somewhere a little remote (so we can make plenty of noise 😜) with a hot tub.

Just finding it hard to narrow down!

I was thinking similar, a cottage with a steamy sauna or hot tub… is the lakes close enough?

Bedford

There is a beautiful cottage in Kelstedge, just off the main road connecting Matlock and Chesterfield. It has a bedroom upstairs, with a Narnia-style wardrobe, a very contemporary shower/bathroom and an amazing country kitchen downstairs equipped with loads of latest gadgets. But, more importantly, they have a Range! It's on all the time, gives the kitchen, and the whole place, that warm glow. The host is very good and attentive. The cottage is placed perfectly for walks in the Derbyshire Dales, trips to the Peaks, or even, if you fancy, The Attic is just over 30 min away. Oh, there is a gastro pub on the other side of the main road, too. Be warned, however, that once you discover this cottage, you'd want to keep going back- me and my partner are booked for Easter already .

CAMBERLEY

The Crazy Bear. One in Beaconsfield, the other in Stadhampton, near Oxford. Not cheap but an experience. Both outrageously ostentatious and OTT, but SO much fun.
