Yes you ….. please explain the merits, advantages disadvantages of leaving the toilet seat up or down, I am acutely aware this will have most village folk in a spin in no time ….. however I feel it prudent to point out that my feedback so far has been

‘I don’t want to see what’s inside there’ when it’s nothing but clean water and a hint of bleach with white gleaming porcelain

And more commonly

‘Because I said so’

I don’t want consensus or opinions, this requires science

Doesn't make much difference with the seat... But the lid should always be down to stop germs etc spreading when you flush?

Because what's the point of the lid otherwise?

Also it stops pets drinking/falling in the water.

The science here is ridiculously simple and 100% opposes common female thinking.

There are only three relevant FACTs. First is that few men sit down for a pee. Second is that they have terrible aim even when sober. Third is that almost none clear up after themselves if they miss and hit the seat.

SOLUTION? EASY. All users, male or female, should leave the seat fully UP after use. That is both cover and seat. Women will put this nice clean and dry seat down for use. Men will not bother. The moment someone misguidedly or squeamishly leaves the seat down after use we are doomed to sit in puddles.

Piss simples?

Actually solution is not to try standing and pissing with the seat down. Just lift it up. Do your piss, then lower the seat and the lid.

Correct way to use the toilet, facing it so you can place your book or laptop on the tank whilst having a shit that's why when you flush it more water comes from the front 😂 and keep the lid down incase something tries to crawl out and hygiene, and control of bacteria

Ahh yes. We clean forgot that bacteria crawl out of toilets in Newcastle. Different rules up there for sure.

At what latitude do folks reckon the bacteria can't quite make it over the rim? Hull? Mansfield? Milton Keynes? Where does it become safe to leave the lid up?
