Somewhere In The Ether…

I haven’t done one of these for a while so….well now I am anyway 👍🏻

Simply list the last film/s you watched here and give it your rating.

You can do it on a 1-10 scale of quality or else, just say if it was good or not as the case may be (I’m carelessly laid back like that)

I’ll start you off:

Wonko - Boring and pointless.

That Christmas: Bland crap.

Wicked: Utter shite 👍🏻

Over to you now good folks 😃

I liked the first 3, after every one since I've said I am never watching another Scream movie, and as soon as they are out I watch em!

St Leonards

The Jackal (1997 version with Bruce Willis and Richard Gere).

Every so often, Bruce Willis nails it in a movie.

This was one of those occasions.

Gere was a bit pants though.

Independence Day: Resurgence

If you don’t take it to seriously then it’s a decent watch.

Alien Romulus. 1 out of 10. Set up and first hour is pretty decent, but it descends into a shit pastiche of scenes from previous entries in the series, complete with atrocious recycled lines of dialogue. Utterly rubbish, and a sad waste of a half decent premise.

Speak no Evil was OK, quite enjoyed it, especially seeing James McAvoy as the villain, he was really rather creepy!!

Felt a bit of a tired movie to load a few empty pockets with cash.

Transformers One. Great watch, particularly (or perhaps only) if you're a Transformers nerd.

I literally just watched Palmer. Pleasantly surprised how good an actor Justin Timerlake now is, 7/10.

"Whiplash" - 9/10

a little slow in places, but the music, the character tension and J.K.Simmons one liners more than make up for it.

Godfather 1,2 & 3....how have i managed to never watch them, excellent!

Hard Miles- pretty good, tad predictable (considering its based on a true story)

Gran Tourismo- Kinda OK, watchable, if it wasn't also based on a true story i'd have put it down as being written to tick off as many cliches as possible (maybe it still was?)

Top Gun 2 Maverick.

It was basically The trench run from Star wars 4 with a American football scene, and no Han Solo to save the day as Tiny Tom can do that himself,

3 out of 10

I watched the film 5 times in theatre. One of my favourites in recent years. You probably missed out on the visual and sound effects you feel on the big screen

Transsexual Transylvania

Pulp Fiction (Netflix) - 7/10. A classic, but still suffers from being a collection of loosely linked scenes that the director thought would be cool. No actual narrative.

Gladiator II (cinema) - 7/10. Enjoyable romp. Doesn't have the emotional kernel and focus of the original. Can't really pick a particular plotline, and so fails to properly engage with any of them. Still enjoyable.

Agreed, nothing new in this film at all. Just making money off of the originals

I didn't, I actually watched that movie in the cinema after a night shift with 2 other colleagues and that's it and empty room, it's a rewrite of Star wars a new hope and the first 15 minutes of TESB

Heretic Hugh Grant acts well . He entraps 2 Mormon missionary women who visit. Fairly unpredictable and alarming. 8

Sagittarius A

The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I thought this was a deep exploration of how the existential crisis we may experience as humans, searching for meaning, can affect those in positions of power. Jack's journey led him to commit heinous crimes and exploit the working classes to serve his his own obsessive agenda.

However, in the end he discovered the meaning he was longing for in the form of love, so everyone went home in a limo.

4/10 see me after class!
