"I've liked some of the unisex ones. I like certain smells on my skin. Usually citrussy or bright ones. Some scents are more traditionally masculine or feminine and are marketed as such. I know women who wear aftershave because they prefer that particular smell on themselves, though." Hi _reytothefairies, yes, you are right there, that is good you have liked some of those ones, that citrussy smell sounds good too

"The first one I remember buying that was marketed as such, was CK one. I still have a bottle floating around somewhere. I've always bought more masculine scents, more spicy and oud based rather than floral and feminine. It's down to personal choice. I don't think about gender and scent. I notice when people smell good and especially when they smell like their personality. Jo Malone has done a good job on not getting hung up on gender. " Hi tinydelight, that is good you still have the bottle, yes, you are right there, it is down to personal choice too

"Ton ford fragrances are my favourite, alot of then are unisex. Lost cherry for example, quite a feminine scent but it smells good on me. There's alot more to perfumery than meets the eye. Your skin type, sweat, pores, and own body chemistry can have many different effects on the scent" I wear TF Black Orchid at the moment. I do love his scents.

"I’m not sure, but Possibly Hallfetti by Penhaligon is gender neutral? I don’t know of any others. I like women to smell floral and feminine and I like to smell masculine. " That is good, same here. I also want women to smell floral and feminine too

"I’m not sure, but Possibly Hallfetti by Penhaligon is gender neutral? I don’t know of any others. I like women to smell floral and feminine and I like to smell masculine. " I wear Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George. It's a masculine fragrance, but it's one I love and people who get close enough to smell it on my skin tend to compliment it. I've never found a unisex fragrance I've loved, but I'm quite pernickety about perfume.

"I listened to an interesting program about perfumes, they talked especially about the unisex ones, where it is about equality, The woman presenter didnt like those because, she said how those unisex ones was too manly for her and that she didnt enjoy the smell from it, she added that her preference was the sweeter fragrances like, vanillia, jasmine, the sweeter fragrances in general not the manly ones. It was a long discussion about it, to cut it short, they concluded it by saying that perfumes should be by gender, so you smell that fragrance is from a man and that is from a woman. What is your view about the unisex ones, do you agree with her? Whilst both can be used. I agree more with her that perfumes only should more be gender based, also, ladies, what is your favourite perfume? " Can I please be very dull and ask where I can find the prigramme?

"Peoples skin chemical make up and hormones can change a fragrances intentional aroma. So I say no, they can all be unisex and people can smell of what they wish too. I used to wear exclamation until pregnancy hormones changed how it smells on me. Now i just wear body sprays" Hi briar, yes, you are right there, that is good you wear body sprays too

"Who decided what each gender should smell like?" Hi nicecouple, it seems that it was from the 19th century onwards with the rise of the middle class, about that time new gender patterns emerge too

"Like others, I think gendering of perfume (and most other things) is absurd. Totally agree. " Disagree! I think it makes sense as men (generally) prefer to wear different scents to women so gendering just makes it easier to find in the shop. It's similar for clothes- male clothing is made to fit the male body. There's nothing stopping women using male toiletries and clothing (and vice versa) the gender segregation just helps shoppers to find what they are most likely to want a bit easier.
