Yes, years ago when I was about 18. I was staying away for work and drinking at a bar in a hotel, when I got chatting to another bloke clearly in the same boat as me.

I had no idea at the time he was slightly a ghey and was chatting me up. When we went our separate ways he asked for my number and I panicked and gave him my actual home phone number.

He called me a few days later and I could see my parent’s thought processing - could he be…?

Yep. I had my trust seriously violated by someone I vouched for. That blew my trust in others completely out the water and now I'm completely distrustful and cycnical to social media friendships.

Maybe it was the where and the when of my growing up but I don't believe I've ever been naive.

I have made mistakes but my gut feeling has been right 95 percent of the time.

The times it wasn't was down to laziness on my part or other distractions rather than naivety.

It's probably for that reason I've never once been catfished, engaged with a fake fab profile or had a no show.

Away from here it's the reason I've been able to keep people safe by seeing through the bs.
