After having an "affair" with a work colleague for the past 8 months ... both of us being married can you just resort to just being friends once again and working together without awkwardness

Hmm, been there, done that and ended it as friends, even still friends with her now ex-husband of the time who has since found out it happened.

But i am also friends with 90% of my ex's.

Suppose it is a case of you spend a lot of time together with work colleagues, sometimes more than with your partner and you grow close - sometimes things just happen over time

Many years ago I had an affair with a colleague at work, which inevitably ended.

She turned into a complete bunny boiler!! .. she stalked me, silent phone calls, threats …. and even came close to getting me sacked! … I don’t want to go there ever again!

R xx

Was you both "married" in a relationship when this affair happened or was she single looking for more?

They don't just happen, it takes two people without boundaries to make it happen.

Hmm seen it happen a few times, every time it ended in disaster for one or both parties getting sacked, most places I've worked it's actually been against company policy.

Yes wouldnt recommend.

It was supposed to be a bit of fun after the Christmas do. It ended up as a five and a half year relationship with a commitment phone

does this mean that I have to get a job to find a woman for sex? I hope not as I like being retired.

I've seen many workmates having affairs over the years and each time it didn't end badly as far as I know.

It never ends well.

Even if eventually you can be friends, there’s always a painful part inbetween.

Apologies, I didn't read the OP. Well that's more complicated than my situation 🤷‍♀️

In my experience it's not a simple answer...

I have only remained friends where the feelings have mutually gone. Where one still wants something then it'll always be an issue.

Men are also more likely to be able to move on to a platonic relationship more readily. Women hold grudges over the littlest thing for-fucking-ever! 😆

Lesson maybe learned that that's why most companies frown on workplace affairs - which I always found ironic given that 50% of marriages started at work (pre-internet).
