No it's a secondary pudding which goes to the main stomach as opposed to the pudding stomach

Cheese is not a pudding course, pudding is the pudding course, cheese is the cheese course, it’s importance is such that it must be afforded the respect of having its own course.

It's the logical follow on to pudding not a replacement.

This is absolutely correct. The cheese is an entirely different course altogether. Perfectly paired with a Port 🍷 or Marsala Wine. A Sauternes would go marvellously with dessert.

Surely only a pudding is a pudding?

The term is often misused as the generic term for 'afters' 'dessert course' 'sweet course' etc.

Cheese can qualify as a course in its own right but cannot, by any stretch of the imagination be considered to be a pudding in the truest sense of the word.

No. A pudding must be sweet. Cheese is acceptable before the actual pudding or at least two hours after.

Not in my view, Cheese should always come before a pudding, served like the French do.

There is a good digestive reason why to !!

Cheese is not a pudding! Cheese could be an ingredient in a pudding but not a pudding proper

Why do so many pubs and restaurants fob me off with cheese as one of their choices?! Scandalous. What is the world coming to…. Where’s that petty annoyances thread 🤔

Finedon ,

The cheeseboard is usually the 4th course of a meal after The Starter course, The Main course. the Dessert course.

At our Christmas Dinner the host provides the Main couse whilst guests provide the starters. desserts and cheese board, all drinks are courtesy of the host.

Been doing it that way for years now.
