"Research a keto diet, very restricted but does work well." Every time that I read the word Keto, I think of the little guy that would jump out on Inspector Clouseau.

"Research a keto diet, very restricted but does work well." This, plus intermittent fasting. No offence to anyone practicing SW but it’s not about slimming at all.

"Good luck on your journey OP. Remember it is a marathon, not a sprint. You will have some great weeks and some not so great weeks - whatever week you have don’t let it go to your head and you will be fine." Exactly this! Slow and steady wins the race...

"Thanks to everyone that’s been supportive. Agree there’s lots of it that doesn’t make sense to me, like the idea that pasta and potatoes are “free”. Obviously they’re not calorie free (when you’ve been obsessed with your weight as I have, you know the calories of EVERYTHING), but my view is that who really wants to eat that much of those foods in a sitting, so it’s more sort of there to get you to eat bigger more nutrient dense meals and replace the snacking on crap. I did see one comment about losing weight not being hard. As someone that lost 4 stone over a summer in their 20s and was, as and as the youth say, “shredded”, I can confirm it is indeed hard and trying to maintain it can make you completely miserable, as I’ve said, everyone will be happy with a different body composition. but thanks for the input all the same. The “big shop” beckons tomorrow! Thanks all!" Maintaining is the secret. That’s why the lifestyle eating and exercise change is the important perspective as opposed to the “diet”. The weigh loss will follow the positive lifestyle changes. Good luck and stick at it.

"In order to feel full you will need protein and carbs. I have never done a diet of any description. Just sensible food, home cooked and most importantly, portion control. You would be surprised how much our eyeball of a portion of pasta actually is tbh. I personally would not get low sugar foods as they compensate in other ways. Just control amount you eat of full fat. Life is too short not to have some of the things you like e.g. choc. But I have Lindt Excellance bar in the fridge and have 1 square with a cuppa. Its all about balance. " I tend to agree, but I’m trying to limit heavier carbs to twice a day. It just makes me feel sluggish if I have them with every meal. I’m having my treat each day. The old me he got in to a habit of “a treat” being 3 bars from a multipack just because I’d gone to the shop or eating the free donut from Lidl jsut because it was free, even if I wasn’t hungry. At the moment, I’m not in a place where I can say I’ve got enough control to not eat multiple sugary things a day if I have them in, so I’m just not keeping them in the house. I’ll get there though.

"Good luck OP. You deserve to feel good in yourself 💪🏻 I’ve lost just over a stone in 8 weeks by eating more food. I’ve cut down sugar because my sweet tooth was out of control. I snack on nuts (not the nuts you find in ballsacks unfortunately) and drink tons of water. But I have increased my intake of healthy natural fats. Swapped margarine for real butter, Swapped rice and pasta for root veg and cauliflower rice, have full fat yoghurt etc . I spice and flavour everything and also eat a lot of fish. It’s working for me and I’m eating really well. I was only trying to lower my blood sugar but subsequently losing weight steadily too. I’ve witnessed a lot of weigh loss through slimming world though so I’m routing for you 💪🏻 lots of really healthy free foods on that plan. " Thank you and congratulations on your success!

"Ah bless ya, I too love crisps! Your mouldy raspberries and eggs to the dogs antics made me laugh. Good first day OP imo " Honestly, I’ll never learn with the market fruit. The dogs were disappointed that the eggs have been replaced by porridge and fruit. I feel like I almost owe it to them to get a bacon sandwich on the go tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by again

"Whatever works for you op, I would never pay for a slimming group however, my ex mother in law has tried many in the 25 years I've known her and none of them have worked. I recently lost nearly 4 stone (although thanks to Christmas I'm in danger of putting it all back on as "fuck it, it's Christmas" moves quite fast out of my lips these days. All I did was get a food tracker, find out my calories I needed for the weight I wanted to lose and then count every single calorie (even booze), I rarely do exercise (apart from work, which can be quite physical), I still have crisps, odd bit of chocolate but I've swapped what I used to have for lower calorie ones and batch cooking, one of the best things we've ever done, we've saved money and we know exactly how much we are having. Everyone does whatever works for them and I wish you well in your new journey, when you start seeing results it will spur you on more, take photos of yourself in the same thing every week as I could really see the change over the months." Thank you. What a good idea! I’ll start snapping photos tomorrow. Congratulations on your success too!

"Thought I’d give posting a miss for a day, less it become even more tedious than a bloke talking about the food he’s eating, already is. Made too much rice (well, I didn’t, the kids just got offered surprise McDonalds by their uncle, and what kid is turning that down?) so I’ve eaten a lot of chicken fried rice and nasi goreng these last 2 days. Does anyone else shit their pants thinking this reheated rice dish is going to be the one that does them in, or is it just me? Tomorrow I’m out all day, so in an attempt to combat the desire to go and eat cake at the stables cafe, I purchasing a food flask. I just forgot the bit about actually making any food to put in it… Had a sneaky weigh-in, which had me down 3lb. Obviously it’ll be mostly water and general fluctuations, but a loss is a loss. " Rice is your friend for weight loss. As long as you cool it quickly and reheat it thoroughly you’ll be ok. I make my own egg friend rice. Love nasi goreng but haven’t made it but I did a sort of crazy special fried rice the other week and it was awesome. Have you got a rice cooker?

"No, it’s on my list, but I’ve got so many kitchen gadgets and not enough kitchen space. Do you have one that you’d recommend? Weird Jack I’ve found is making food quite spicy helps as I don’t overeat it and dotn tend to fancy more than yoghurt later on. I’m taking the kids and they’re reformed to the cinema later, so I’ve got a ton of fruit to eat then. It’s not quite Maltesers and popcorn, though." I’ve got a multi cooker thing that’s a pressure cooker and it does rice quite quickly for me. Interesting with the spicy thing! Just make sure you’re eating enough to keep you satisfied so you’re not tempted to nibble on empty calories. How did you get on at the cinema?

" I had a wanky post-work farce so tonight wasn’t my finest culinary moment. I had no time for lunch and porridge for breakfast, so my calories will be fine, which is ultimately what matters.

"I'm slowly losing weight. I'm in no rush so I'm not doing any faddy diet. I have food intolerances, so I've had to learn which fruit and veg sets me off. I can't eat a lot of fat or red meat for health reasons but I am low in folates so I had some recently. A few basic meals I can make quickly have helped me, as I was starving all day and eating anything I could find in the evening. " I’ve done this a lot over the years. By the time everything and everyone was sorted, I didn’t have the energy to cook for myself, so I’d end up eating 3 bags of crisps and a bag of sweets and calling it dinner. Tonight was one of those nights, but I did at least do my own wedges in the airfryer and stuck to just the one chicken burger from the freezer.

"Good luck op. We did the SW thing a couple of years ago, started out with unrealistic goals but sticking to plan we both reached them. Very surprised but we did it. Will be starting again in the new year as once we reached our goals we kinda gave up with going to group but the pounds slowly made their way back. For us the most important part was attending group every week it really did help and wished we was still going." The idea of a SW group isn't for me. I found all the literature and just doing it that way. Truthfully, it’s not really SW, as I’m watching calories too. I think SW underestimate how many potatoes and how much rice and pasta I can put away.

"How did weigh in go? Have u done your measurements yet? X" I did do my measurements. They’ve not really moved, but it’s only been a week. Weigh in was 16st, so down 2lb from day one. I did weigh myself every day and it was anywhere between 15st 12lb and 16st 4lb, so not sure how much I truly lost, tbh.
