Which is your favourite version of A Christmas Carol. It's been done and redone again many times, some good, some bad, some with their own unique twist.

Which is your favourite version of this essential Christmas story?

For me it will be Muppets everytime.

I like them all as it's a great story but the Robert Zemeckis one with Jim Carey is great.

Or the George C Scott version from 1984 is great.

Carry on Christmas might top the lot but don't think I've seen that. And Blackadder must get a notable mention.

I can only recall watching three different versions of A Christmas Carol.

I loved them all as each had their own appeal.

Michael Caine's Scrooge wasn't as dark as Alastair Sim's, and I felt more warmth at the end from George C Scott's Scrooge.

I'm going to have to watch all three before Christmas.

I don't fancy the 2009 version from Disney as I don't particularly like that animation-even though I loved The Polar Express.

Yes the Muppets, it's the most accurate reflection of contemporary western culture.

Which was a large part of Dickens work.

One could say The Muppets are a modern interpretation of a Dickensian reflection on society.

Oh it's over 30 years old. Maybe South Park should do a version.

The 1984 one with George C Scott as Scrooge. It's the one adaptation which grounds the character in as much reality as possible. The cast is incredible, bringing together just about every acclaimed British character actor on the books, and there's a genuine sense of joy to be found.

The wife and I watch it every Christmas Eve with a couple of beers.
