It's one of those terms I find completely vulgar and totally unfounded, with it's current meaning anyway. I wouldn't call a woman that, sorry even if she wanted me to-it ain't happening.

I know you were being light hearted with your reply but I'm sure you understand what I mean. Us genuine men have to work hard to get a good reputation on a site such as this and a big part of that is down to treating the ladies on here with respect and thoughtfulness.

Slattern is rude, ill-bred woman - which is much closer to me and my history.

It is a double standard that comes from years of patriarchal society's attempts to repress and control female sexuality. Do I call women sluts? Oh god yes! It can be very sexy to have a naughty little slut all to yourself and see just how slutty a she can be. However for me it is purely playful and not intended pejoratively or to demean my playmate in any way. I do not see how a women could be classed as a slut for enjoying sex and yet somehow a man remains free of such labels?

The assumption that female sexuality or the exploration of it is synonymous with being a slut is a very outmoded attitude. The hypocrisy that has existed for millennia has always seen the male above reproach for his conduct (boys will be boys, after all) and the more sex he has the more manly he supposedly is, yet for the female they are supposed to remain innocent, virginal and god forbid they decide they actually like sex!

I would hope that in 2013 women can be respected for taking control of their sex lives and that, whilst I do love a slut, the idea that a woman is somehow debased by doing something we all naturally enjoy is something best consigned to the past.
