"Makes me very angry. We leave our own nationals on the streets, and put none nationals up in hotels ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't find it boring. I find it boring that people are still banging on about it and throwing random figures and false statements around... Did you ever give a shit about homelessness before? Have you ever done anything to help the homeless? Or are you just another one who blames those without a voice for the state of things?

"Makes me very angry. We leave our own nationals on the streets, and put none nationals up in hotels ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Who's throwing random figures around? The figure I mentioned is direct from the Home Office. And people are still "banging" on about it because homelessness is continuing problem, now getting worse because of the cold weather. Have some human decency mate, or go back to sleep if you want. Either's good ![]()

"Family is very important in Asia, it’s generally accepted that a family look after each other. I know in certain countries you cannot even claim any government benefits if you have relatives that are working." That's very true. My ex is Filipino and they always accommodate family, regardless of the size of their house. They won't let family live on the streets. It's very sweet, but I couldn't handle the lack of privacy. It's pretty crazy how under each other's noses they get lol.

"How dare those asylum seekers have a safe place to stay, after fleeing war and persecution for opposing religious and political beliefs.... Because they're too easy to blame for other people's failures in life. Sad, isn't it..." Why isn't your human decency reserved for nationals damn you! It's clearly the 'non-nationals' fault we sold all our social housing off decades ago and used the money to fund tax cuts for the rich, rather than reinvest it. Leaving decades of financial strain on local authorities, handing over taxpayers money to private landlords.

"How dare those asylum seekers have a safe place to stay, after fleeing war and persecution for opposing religious and political beliefs.... " The largest group in 2022 to cross the channel were Albanian, currently the largest group in 2024 are Vietnamese. No wars in either of those countries, so yay for them! ![]()

"How dare those asylum seekers have a safe place to stay, after fleeing war and persecution for opposing religious and political beliefs.... " It's not that simple or binary though is it? Having millions of people from wherever, who have no jobs and are a strain on all of our resources is going to be challenge. Unless you think somehow there should be free houses for all? I don't know the answer but adding more and more homeless people to it isn't fixing any problem.

"I don’t watch much UK television, however, I caught an advert for Centrepoint that seems to be getting a lot of airplay. As an expat, thankfully it’s not an issue I encounter; I’ve met/seen one, yes one, homeless person in three years living in SE Asia. What’s peoples’ prevailing experience of homelessness ![]() ![]() It's warm over there, so perhaps it doesn't seem so bad, but aren't the shanty towns, of which they're are many in SE Asia, akin to homelessness? "There was a survey done on homelessness in London a good few years ago. 80% of them were ex Forces. There are various variables which cause the high percentage. I will not go into details on here. As ex Forces my self. I think by the grace of God go I. " Spot on. I did quite a bit of work for them (and others) in the past. Unfortunately my experience is that most seem stuck, accept their fate and remain homeless. The hostels etc that are laid on are rife with bullying, abuse and everything you can imagine so most prefer the streets. Again, my experience and perception.

"Ex forces should never have to be homeless ![]() Yes this. I was technically homeless at 17 as I didn't like the people I lived with (dead parents so loving elsewhere). It wouldn't happen today with an under 18 but back then I was just in a hostel so had no fixed address. I went to uni at 18 so was pretty short term but really could have gone another way.

"Ex forces should never have to be homeless ![]() ![]() With the best will in the world, it all comes down to money. And we should be aware what's being spent on our behalf and where.

"Ex forces should never have to be homeless ![]() We need to think about the impact on people of living in such precarious circumstances. It is not optimal - it inhibits their productivity not just causes distress and suffering. And It's not an economic necessity. It's not a wealth quantity issue, it's a wealth distribution issue.

What’s peoples’ prevailing experience of homelessness ![]() ![]() I live in a very quiet village. I have seen homeless people in the big town and it breaks my heart. We have an amazing charity there which we support. Personally I will not approach people because of a very bad experience I have had but I contact the charity and they go out. I can not imagine what it is like out on the streets and its a hell no one should have to endure.x

"Prince William can't fix it. I don't know if he believes he can and I'm not sure what his plans are" What is the "it" and what does "fixing it" mean. UK population is over 69m now. Forecast to grow by 2.2m net immigration by 2030. So even if we had home for everyone now, that means 2.2m homes need to be found in the next 6 years. What does fixing it mean.?
