Is mulled wine really just a seasonal name for old shite that nobody in their right mind would buy normally?

Add whatever they do to offload it onto mugs at Christmas time?

You don’t boil it you lightly simmer it otherwise if boiled you’d boil the alcohol off

I can’t stand mulled wine, my friend once referred/ mispronounced it as muled wine and now I can’t get the idea of getting a kick from a mule when drinking it

Not so much mulled wine … but reminding me of the proper European markets, I do love Gluwein. 😋😋, it is always a staple part of putting up the Decs, and at Christmas parties.

When you see it at the stalls at Christmas markets here, it’s a rip off! £5 for a small paper cup … when it £5.99 a bottle in Aldi!

I quite like it! Make my own and I suppose enjoying cinnamon helps. It feels warming and seasonally appropriate. 🎄

Great way to kick off an apres-ski/snowboard session, feels like a cozy jumper and an open fire all in a cup!!

For those that do like it but want to try something a little different, here's one to put the mulled into; use Thatchers Blood Oranger Cider. Trust me! 😋🍊🥃💥

I don't drink red wine but I enjoy mulled wine.

I prefer hot ports, that's my favourite hot tipple.

Only got into it relatively recently, way back the nearest thing I came to it was Sanatogen wine.

They toned down the spices in the supermarket version, I read somewhere an old fella got heartburn and taken to hospital after drinking it.

Someone told me if you put it on your nipples you get horny.

I’m currently in Munich for work and last night I had Gluhwein with a shot of Amaretto in, game changer.

Although after a few, my head didn’t want to work this morning.

I went to a Christmas market last year where a bookshop was giving away free mulled wine and mince pies.

I think I stayed there over an hour and spent the best part of a hundred quid

We went to a Christmas Market a couple of weeks ago and the mulled wine van ran out of wine after an hour! We don't think they planned ahead suitably.

They packed up and went home, even though there is a wine merchant half a mile down the road.

Another Glühwein fan, from time in the cold, in Germany.

It won't be the high quality wine!

I love Mulled Wine.

I love the aromatic and spice against the warming alcohol that evokes everything that I enjoy about Autumn and love about this time of year - the crisp cool weather and the more-ishly fragrant aromatised wine, best served in a paper cup as you meander around a park with a favourite friend.

As ever, you sum it up beautifully.

It’s also more Christmassy than say hot chocolate with rum, which is excellent on winter evenings

I crave hot stews and warm berry based squash this time of year and mulled wine is a grown up version of that.

Helps my anxiety about council gritter lorries coming the other way.

I first tried this one winter in Sweden, it’s very good because after a couple you invariably fall over in the snow, but you can’t feel it.

It’s basically self-healing

So, on balance, it sounds like it is all the shite that they couldn't normally sell but it makes a lot of people feel it is worth buying and, therefore, the system works well at this time of year!
