Things that go bump in the night

My home experiences noises, once I'm in bed for the night. Do you get any inexplicable noises?

I'm assuming that it's the building settling down. That heating causes expansion and when it's off, there's contraction. Lots of different materials, their own speeds and sounds, especially as they interact. You could think that someone has perhaps broken in. It can seem w little spooky.

I hear low voices talking in the spare bedroom every night. Of course it isn't people talking but I don't know what it is that makes the sound. We're detached so it isn't neighbours.

Yeap, it’s definitely not a murderer hiding in the dark, coming to get you when you least expect it.

Our fridge makes random loud noises at night time. Not at other times though!

We get burglars knocking on doors on the small hours of the night. Testing reactions of the occupants.

If you have any doubt, i was once told that ghosties just want acknowledged. Might be coincidence but have seen it appear to work in a few instances with noises stopping after doing so.

My daughter and I were decorating my son's room, the door kept opening and closing so I said, look, you're either in or you're out, make up your mind... Door stopped lol

I have two phones, one upstairs, one in the living room. One evening the living room phone rang and my then GF asked if I was going to answer it. I told her to see who was ringing and she looked and said "Internal call?" That means it is coming from the extension upstairs. The look on her face! I said I never answer in case someone answers!

At least you had certainty

I think my home must just be at a certain age, coupled with the seasonal use of heating, that when I turn it off at night, things are thrown into wild abandon, as things contract etc and start to get jumpy. I can start to get a little lumpy too. If I wasn't in the UK, I'd think it's perhaps a raccoon in the attic. Ok, there's greater chance of it being a pervert in the attic, who's drilled holes, to see sexual goings on. I guess ghostly spirits might be interested, should they exist
