Somebody said that about me fairly recently. But do I feel as if someone would be lucky to have me? More often I feel as if there's little that I offer. Best sex ever? Nah, I don't know how to do that. Fabulous body? It's not even got the right kind of genitals. And the tits live in a shoe box. Youth and beauty? Old and never quite worked out how to do the smiling thing. Kind hearted? Yeah I can do that, though I'm not really sure whether anybody is interested in that anymore.

People by objectively worse cars all the time - someone, right now, is driving around in a "new" VW Beetle, and fucking loving it. Why? Because all the subjective reasons it's the best car for them trump the objective reasons that it's a tin shit tip. You could walk up to them and say "shit car mate" and they'd just grin at you like you're a moron, with all your RPMs and pounds per square foot not making meaning a damn thing when they can get into their clown car and grin every time they turn the ignition, and smile every time they think of it.

And you're not a car - there's no "pounds per square foot" of fucking (..well, maybe) or mould somewhere that your body can be marked down against, so there's even less of an objective way of comparing you to other people (although some will claim there is).

If you're someone's tin shit tip then just believe them when they say that instead of comparing yourself to others and feeling bad you don't measure up. Jeanette from Stockport doesn't want a Bugatti, the flower pot in the dashboard makes her far happier than the bucketiest of bucket seats or the rev counter going to over 9000.

Even if you're not, yet, realise that you can be. Life's a puzzle, not a ranked list. And at the scale of the planet, all the pieces fit in quite a lot of places, if you'll let them fit.

(There, that's as serious as I'm getting on these damned forums, back to gentle ribbing)
