So we have a hard rule we always meet socially in a pub or cafe the first time we meet people.

We even offer them to pick where so they are comfortable. That's not unreasonable is it

I use loci to determine a suitable pub to meet in. Like Liam Neeson in Taken 2 with the hand grenades.

Personally I would always make my own way to a meet...I wouldn't be too comfortable getting in a strangers car x

"Personally I would always make my own way to a meet...I wouldn't be too comfortable getting in a strangers car x"

They said they offer for them to pick where, as in the place, not they offer to pick them up.

Un ethical life hack:

If you say you're twice the distance away you can meet around the corner and they think you've come an equal distance

Meeting socially isn't unreasonable no but if you've never met them before what would you say to someone offering to pick you up and whisk you off to a neutral location with the only means of getting back home being them.

Would it be a yes or a no given you seem hard and fast about first meet security and privacy.

On more than a few occasions we have had people insist we meet at their place first time infact the meet that stood us up tonight was say we should come to them after they failed to meet us

What if it was a Rolls Royce or a Bentley driven by a suited chauffeur with a name like "Jeeves", "Jenkins", "James" or some other name/surname starting with a "J" which the posh-employed ones always do?
