I’m sure we’ve all come across and read a profile that has very strict requirements.

Do they put you off or motivate you?

Strict profiles do not put me off. They're strict in order to attract the right criteria of person and discourage the wrong type.

If I come across a profile that wants the moon on a stick but is offering the equivalent of space dust in return then I just ignore the profile and move along.

Strictness no not at all, it can be appealling.

It would depend what the rules were, as to whether it put me off.

I don't think I view as strictness, it's a fair word to use. I just see it as someone who is self-aware and assertive enough to make their expectations clear.

Are they willing to reciprocate that would be my only concern.

It depends on how it's written. A list of "Don't do this, don't do that" can be seen as quite negative. Whereas "I enjoy x, y, z" is infinitely more pleasant to read.

I don't think I'd be particularly motivated by a strict profile. If I didn't fit the requirements it saves time on wasted messages. If I do but they don't excite me generally then I'm not going to feel like it's worth it purely because I might be their type 💜

People who don't read profiles were never going to read them anyway, regardless of the tone, length, demands etc...

If anyone is put off by the apparently arduous task of actually having to read a profile, then the filter is working as intended

I wouldn't consider your profile strict, I consider strict to be something more demanding and restrictive with little in return. I think its quite clear what you do and don't want after reading your profile.

I think they’re fine. If they’re looking for something specific then having that clear on their profile probably works well for them. I’m not looking for something specific and as a result I’m not interested in ticking someone else’s boxes. I’m happy to see what dynamic unfolds. The only box I want filled in is the one in my pants

Well said. Mine has a likes and dislikes section. People still message regardless. If a profile is strict and rules me out then thats also ok. 😁
