Do you think swinging is loosing its stigma and becoming more acceptable?

Delightful Bliss

No. Not at all. Promiscuity is not a popular desired trait for many.

My boudoir - S Wales

I think so. Since Open House was aired on channel 4. And a few big cruise companies are “on board”. I’ll get my coat.

I still think it is done by a minority of the population. But I do think TV shows about swinging have increased the popularity. But I imagine for the immediate future, it will be a lifestyle for the minority.

Think it’s a case of more people are involved & more guys are on swinger sites.

It’s become easier to find out about it and less stigma

I think its more socially acceptable and the population is generally less shocked by different lifestyles.

I blame the chuckle brothers and “to me to you” taking it in turns with a woman

I think for a lot of the younger generation sex is less a taboo subject in general. With that well known pay site, online dating being the norm, and people being much more open about their sexuality.

It's definitely becoming easier to find out about it.

Less stigma... We disagree.

Even Naked attraction has very few non monogamous people appearing in it.

For us Open House showed the difficulties of what can happen when the wrong people try it out and the show never followed up to let us know what happened after they appeared.

Friends of ours were asked to go on and they declined because of the damage they believed it would do to their careers.

That's just us though...

I think a few more people are informed/knowledgeable and a bit more accepting. But monogamy has got a hold on values and norms, to a much too significant extent.

wonderland.

No you only have to read a few posts when swinging gets onto social media..you would think we are the worst of the worst

Even some swingers think some of us are awful for having lots of other partners.

Swinging clubs and social events would be an excellent place to start.

Overall, while swinging is gaining more visibility and acceptance, it remains a lifestyle choice that is not embraced by everyone. Its growth in mainstream acceptance is likely to continue as societal attitudes towards sexuality and relationships evolve over time.

St Leonards

There are a lot of cultural change reasons over the last 60 years that have enabled it or ENM to become more visible, arguably prevalent.

There are also economic reasons. Many over 40 have done the relationship/kids/marriage/divorce thing. Their lives work as singletons, so there's no reason for monogamy.

Equally, a house 45 years ago cost 4 times the average salary (including most parts of London). A house today costs 10 times the average salary (15+ times in London).

So those younger than 40 don't have the same ability, even if they wanted to, to "make house" with a partner, have kids etc - which, in practical terms, drives a lot of monogamy.

In which case, you may as well make the most of the life you can afford as a younger singleton.

And for those who are in relationships and have their own home, the cultural changes first referred to above allow greater experimentation and openness.
