We are heading to London for the weekend next week (6-9th) and staying in shoreditch and was wondering if anyone know any good bars for cocktails and live music and also where we might meet other fabbers .

Not any more. The golden era of The Axe, Spread Eagle, White Horse etc. are long gone. Whole area has been gentrified and is a hip, happening place, rather than the seedy area I used to love.

In answer to the OP’s question, Shoreditch has plenty of bars, while Old Street and Hoxton are both within walking distance and will offer you some trendy drinking holes.

Regarding meeting fellow Fabbers, no obvious places I am aware of., so best to use the “who’s near” option on Fab.

Hope you enjoy your stay there.

try to arrange a meeting from on here with the meets, events part of the site.

i found that the "near me" was too generic and too many people in london. so made it difficult to find anyone who was on line and could reply

If you like some music, Old Street Records is a good shout. They’ve got a website you can check out.

And as has been mentioned, Browns always offers a relaxed place for a couple of drinks with ‘live entertainment’

No, never been. But I figure Shoreditch is the kind of place a guy can go to the bar and order a single plum, floating in perfume, served in a man's hat and actually get it. Plus have a few coins change from a £50 note.

We stayed at 100 Shoreditch a couple of years back. Hotel was great, seemed to remember a huge couch in our room that we abused doing lots of unmentionables.

Loads of bars and eateries and it seemed quite a trendy place. We'd definitely go back, Mrs x
