Tesco have half price sets at the moment e.g. Vaseline tin - Dove set - lynx etc.

Amazon or Temu have a gift section for what ever price you want to pay so there would be something there.

I'd go to , 'The Works' if you have that chain there and get everyone a book , regardless of age or gender.

If you do give a five-pound note put it in one of those money envelopes or a card.

Two lines on a Euromillions card for near Christmas. ( might as well burn your money to be fair )

A nice nail clipper or file. People are always looking for them.

A keyring

A nice bookmark ....

Mulled wine

Speciality Tea Bags from the health shop or good supermarket e,g for sleep for menopause for etc etc

A candle.....

A ball point pen

A mouse pad......

A sports water bottle

Nice photo frame ..

List is endless..... get on it

Weirdly, my one Boer war related memory was of my great aunt Florence telling me how, as a very young girl, she celebrated the relief of Mafeking with tea and cakes on the lawn. Actually true.

So many things , bags of henna and henna tattoo stencils , insense cones , photo wire & magnets - you still need to print a few photos, nice bars of chocolate, craft beer, 3 mini assorted wines,Stollen, wool socks. The trick is to pick them up on your travels , I go to a lot of dollar shops in Asia, so have stash of stuff under the bed, but a lot of that can be bought in the UK for under a fiver

Not stuff. That sort of thing, unless you know the person will like it, is a bit bleurgh. The worst Christmas presents I've ever received have been random crap someone picked up from around their house.

A coffee shop giftcard? Or if you know their reading taste a book. A bookshop giftcard? Maybe something consumable but upgraded - nice chutneys/jams/biscuits? Things that will be used. You can get some lovely votives/candles for a tiny bit more.

Friend of mine recently gifted me a box of odd socks.

Socks made from recycled plastic bottles.

They're fun and help save the planet.

No idea if they hit the £5 budget, its rude to see how much a present cost.

Some National Trust places do 'a blind date with a book'. They gift wrap one or two books write a brief description eg thriller, romance etc and sell them for £2. I got some of those for people last year

I always think we have lost the art of writing. I mean proper letter writing. If it is someone special or close write them a letter. Say something along the lines of when spring or summer is here let’s have a picnic or something.

For me time is more important than gifts and giving a person that time
