"I actually impulse purchased one this week. Not really sure waht to do with it. I look at all the crap online and it makes me feel bad that people are just printing more plastic shit they don't need. I'll look into more sexier things." Yeah most printer owners can't use CAD. I make functional parts. I don't see the point of owning one to just download others STLs and print them off. Baffles me

"I (mr) have been tempted a few times to purchase one... hasn't thought of anything sexy though tbh but more so geeky and upgrading/ making tokens, parts etc for board games" They're cheap enough to buy now. Less than £200 for a hobby one. Even less on Ebay and Facebook marketplace

PLA+Fast is great for quick prototypes and PETG for better strength parts with open enclosure printers. Warning to anyone... its never just plug and play, it's quite the learning curve figuring different filaments out as well as slicer settings to find tune your prints. You will get tonnes of failed prints but each time helps you learn. Fusion 36o is great for parametric modelling.

"I think a 3d printer would compliment my co2 laser cutter nicely but I don't have time at the moment to figure out it all works, maybe one day in the future. Mr H" They use similar file types (gcode).

"Plug and play - definitely not. It's a conversation I've had with many people of the years. " What printer do you use? I have a QIDI Plus II, need to upgrade though as it's a little slow and would love a multi extruder setup

I've not had much use for multi-head printers tbh. I love my Sovol SV08 and my Raise3D printers.

"I've made some BDSM equipment I found on Cults but mostly non kinky stuff. But I've had dildo making on my list for a long time - can't 3D print a dildo unfortunately (at least not safely) but it makes a good starter for a mould. I don't need any more hobbies.. I don't need any more hobbies.. maybe I should just buy the silicone just in case.." You could always 3D print the mould

"You could always 3D print the mould " Hm. I hadn't considered that. I was imagining 3D printing the dildo, pressing it into alginate, and then using that as the mould to pour the silicone into. Well now I definitely have to try it!

"Perhaps we could have a Fab social based around it? I've never done any but it does look interesting " A print takes hours to complete. What would we do in-between?
