Simple way to weight loss

Consume less calories. Do more exercise.

Forget your fads and hacks they’re just looking for the easy path.

You don’t need to count anything or have a smart watch.

You know what foods are bad and you know when you’re being lazy and using avoidance strategies with your exercise.

It’s as simple as that.

Looking forward to the excuses.

Yup I'm sure it's the best way for some people but everyone is different!

In reality we all know what we need to do bit tasty, delicious things that are bad for us are just too damn tempting!

Just have less of them in smaller portions. Eating healthy does not mean you have to sacrifice all the good things in life.

I have no self motivation after a hard day in work or a hard rugby/kickboxing session so a nandos is always so easy to pick up. Plus I love food as much as sex so I know why I'm fat but too stuck in my ways to do anything about it.

I don't think of it as weight loss, I think of it as Fat Loss.

Cut back on the salt, sugar and processed foods etc but still enjoy them as an occasional treat. Everything is ok in moderation

Aside from medical conditions, this is absolutely true. You don't need a fancy (and often expensive) diet.

Any of these companies that have monthly subscriptions and a catalogue of expensive dieting foods and drinks are there for one thing only: profit.

Same goes for supplements. Unless you have a medical reason to take them (i.e. iron deficiency), absolute waste of money. You can get everything you need from normal food.

That also applies to gluten, carbs and all that stuff. There are NO benefits to your health for cutting out anything, unless you have medical reasons and have been advised by a GP or doctor to do so.

It's all a giant scam and any experienced and independent nutritionist (not on the payroll of one of these companies) will tell you the same thing.

I'm 42 and I lost roughly a stone in a month, purely by eating less and exercising more. Didn't even cut out "bad foods" or treats like fry-ups, crisps and chocolate. Simply ate less of it and got off my arse.

You don't need to follow any diet (unless you have specific reasons, such as religion or choosing to not eat meat). You don't need to fast either, because essentially you're forcing your body to operate without the things it needs to do so efficiently.

One of my biggest factors that led to me putting on weight was my mental health. It's all well and good saying you need to fix your body by eating less and moving more. It's incredibly hard if just getting out of bed takes one all mighty effort. Sometimes that is as much one can manage in day.

People then saying it's so easy just do xyz, makes people with mental health issues feel even more guilty and leads to further downwards spiral.

So no I don't believe it is that easy for everyone.

Don’t eat UPF. Intermittent fast. Eat actual food and you can pretty much eat as much as you like and not think all that much about it. I live on butter, nuts, fish, eggs vegetables, cream, cheese, olive oil and fruit. Occasionally sourdough bread. Just single ingredient foods. Swear off seed oil and emulsifiers and anything chemically engineered. Industrially produced food isn’t designed to make you full or healthy, it’s designed to sell and to keep you buying.

If somebody told me they want to change how they eat, I’d tell them to learn about the food industry until they no longer want to give money to mega corporations that basically sell poison.

The problem alot of people have is that visible change takes time- it takes a while for a body to realise what is happening to it! Also the annoying thing about trying to lose fat is that you tend to lose it from the top (face/neck) down instead of from the areas you want to get rid of it (belly!!!).

Do whatever you bloody want if weight loss is the goal you want to achieve 🤦🏽

There are a lot of professionals out there to suggest something which could work for each individual and also some very reputable and successful dieting groups (SW&WW) but ultimately do speak, if possible, to a GP who can do a body mot for recommendations to what your body can and should not do 😁

PS the foods we eat are categorised for different metabolisms so what’s considered bad to you may be not so bad to others 😁

PPS fuck it YOLO 😂😂😂😂

"One of my biggest factors that led to me putting on weight was my mental health."

Mental health definitely plays a part too. I have ADHD, anxiety and depression. I know all too well how hard it is to get going and lose weight.

I wake up every day on a negative and have to force myself to do anything. But damn, it's absolutely worth it. There is a significant correlation between mental and physical health. One affects the other.

Even just doing something small, like a half hour walk, can have a huge positive effect on the brain. Start off small, as small as you feel capable of doing.

I struggle with very low dopamine levels, the "reward and motivation" chemical, so it's a neverending battle to get off my arse and do something beneficial. But after a short walk or a rave around the front room to my favourite tunes, it really does make a difference.

Seeing those numbers go down, being able to walk further without getting knackered, the boosts to my mental health are invaluable.

There is a thing I like to use: MEDS.

Mindfulness

Exercise

Diet

Sleep

Each of those has an effect on the other and if you can do something for each, as often as you can, over time it'll have such a positive influence on your life. All four daily would be most beneficial, but sometimes only 3/4 is possible. And that's okay, because it's the effort that counts most.

I do think getting yourself to the right mindset is a huge challenge that is often overlooked.

I've lost six stone over the last two years from eating less and moving more, but it isn't an easy thing to do and takes a lot of mental strength. So yes, it really is as easy as eat less and move more, but just because it is simple doesn't mean it is easy.

This is true, I don’t believe you should eat an entire pack of butter everyday. I just believe actual food has an infinitely higher result when it comes to satiation so you’re eating to fullness rather than excess. There’s an actual nutritional outcome and you have a body designed to deal with what you’re putting into it. I don’t believe exercise really makes all that much difference, unless you’re good to walk 3 hours to burn off a donut. I’d just say don’t eat the donut.

Keep the goals simple and achievable ..otherwise it can lead to disappointment when you don’t get to them when expected… which could in turn put you on the back foot.

Enough little changes can make a big difference

And don’t beat yourself up …got to keep the balance

Ah, that's good stuff. 😊 Yeah, it doesn't need to be huge amounts falling off every week. Whatever works for you! If you feel better about it, that's half the battle right there.

Any progress is good progress. If I only lose a little, it's far better than nothing. Not to mention weight fluctuates anyhow. Water retention, waste, muscle growth. So long as it goes down over a longer timeframe, you're winning. 😄

Agreed. Weight loss/gain is a simple matter of how much you burn compared to how much you consume.

Fad diets appeal because they give people the impression that they can eat lots of a certain type of food and still lose weight.

I have an underactive thyroid. If my medication is incorrect even by 25mcg I will gain weight over a period of time whatever I eat or drastically lose it whatever I eat. Fortunately thanks to the persistence of a consultant it's correct at the moment so I maintain a steady weight.
