in the UK or abroad.. as you can get weekends abroad for similar prices to staying home, if you can get to an airport cheap

Personally i think historic cities are amazing. Though many are overrun with Christmas markets at the moment.

Places like York, Bath, Colchester all have so much history to look into whilst you walk about.

I also had an amazing weekend away in Northumberland in a cottage near the sea and near hadrians wall. Some of the best seafood I've ever eaten and a book shop that blew my mind. It also was isolated enough that basically anything goes.
