Here's a question I've been thinking about for a while.

In a relationship why does sex tend to dwindle over time, with exception to everyday life becoming busier what other reasons are there. Every relationship I've been in with exception to maybe 1 or 2 sex has always gone from multiple times a day every day to maybe once a month if I'm lucky.

Lack of excitement, becoming too comfortable in a situation, and agreed boredom.

Monogamy can kill a relationship...

Lifestyle changes, incursions to our heath, apathy, sexual indifference between partners, erosion of commonalities and differing interests and priorities between two people, lack of desire and the unwillingness to desire and be desired. The myriad of reasons are endless and open to a world of interpretations.

Stress, busy work life or incompatible working patterns (shifts).

Certain medications or illnesses.

Feeling taken for granted or as if you're doing the lions share of all the household stuff, kids.

For ladies the menopause can effect their mojo.

There can be many reasons, you have to keep talking and working on your relationship though & try to make time for the other.

"Lack of variety"

The small boxes of cereal? It's possible, I suppose.

Literally it becoming routine and not having that fresh spice of exploring a different body.

For us it's work and being tired. We always try once or occasionally, twice a week for sex but that's about it. Although the fella slid inbetween my legs at 5am this morning and woke me up... Haha!

People get comfortable and take each other for granted. It's easy to slip into patterns of everyday life but everyone needs to know they are still loved, wanted and valued by their partner. Of course there are other ways to do that but sex is important.

As a relationship progresses and you become comfortable sex is low down on that priority list. Stress, work, health conditions, kids etc all start to take over.

I think it’s also unrealistic (for most) to expect the frequency to be the same as when the relationship started. Putting too much pressure on it leads to it feeling more like another chore, than something you should be enjoying.

One person feels like their needs aren’t been met, whether that be emotionally or physically, you just stop trying after a while and get stuck in a rut.

Because human beings are creatures of novelty, and any relationship will inevitably become familiar and routine, and so we become complacent and take what we have for granted. When you add the pressures of everyday life into the mix, a reduction in ‘spice’ is inevitable. It takes commitment to keep a fire burning for a long time. You have to keep stoking it… for want of a better pun Xx
