to be honest i dont see much in them

some are also expensive 50 for an hr just for makeup and hair tips.

if anything theres enough tech to be used that can show different hairstyles and makeup as well as clothes.

and yet all you need is a photo for that

on some they offered another type of service night outs or outings dressed as a group

what they didnt offer was jobs dressed as enfemme

Go in a big boots the the make up counter and ask for a colour match.. Don't be scared they get us gurls popping in now and again all the time. Some even have femboys on the staff.

Hi Lucy,

Dressing Services are a great way to start, particularly if you have no experience. What they can often achieve is fab. I first used one many years ago, and cried the first time I saw the ‘female’ me. I don’t have the need for them anymore, as I can do my own make up etc, and what I’d spend there, prefer to spend it on nights out etc. …. but just very very occasionally I will go for a ‘pamper’ session … just to see what can be done differently.

They will also likely tutor you through how to apply make up, clothes etc … lessons you can take away. YouTube is also a great way to learn.

Btw, please don’t be afraid to buy anything in the shops, you won’t even be blinked at. If you do feel up to it, speak to the ladies on make up counters … they have seen it all and don’t judge, and are incredibly helpful- I’ve asked advice in both male and female mode… possibly not for you yet, but if you go in dressed, they will literally fall over themselves to help you. If you do feel nervous, what’s a few extra items in your basket at a self checkout …. No one would even know!!

I paid for a pro make up artist to do mine years ago just to see if I could look at all convincing. Also gave me tips and recommendations of products. Get a great wig too .

I really would recommend that you have at least one makeover and lesson. You can waste an enormous amount of time, money and effort wandering in the dark. Youtube can be helpful but very little of it is oriented towards “our” demographic and plenty of it is explicitly stupid. Even after lessons, it took me around 5 years to refine my current, fairly convincing look.

I agree hense why I’d rather spend few hundred quid and being advised the best product for my skin and features.

Find a dressing service that will colour match you , as it’s worth finding one that will use there expertise in colour matching and style , depending on how far you want to travel I’d recommend gill springay ( makeover girl reinvent yourself) in Manchester as that is what she specialises in and she will tell you what products you need and hair colour and style , I think she can sell you do much of the products and hair if you want while you’re there , but definitely get a professional makeover which will give you a idea of what you can look like and then watch tutorials to practice and learn your skills

I would recommend Gill too as I learned from her. A couple of lessons won’t be too costly but I would recommend you spend on a decent wig. Look for the quality brands like Noriko, Renee of Paris, Racquel Welch, etc. and avoid the cheap imports. A specialist supplier, like Trendco in Manchester, will be happy to see you as a customer, but you must go with full makeup as it’s virtually impossible to see what works for you otherwise.

If I can get make up done to a standard so I’m passable to go out dressed I will invest in high end wigs. I don’t buy cheap I buy middle range. I got 4 styles and colour. Cheapest was £60 dearest was about £140. That was my way of hoping to be best convincing but can’t master the face paint😪

It's a case of having the nerve to go out dressed, Tell you the truth most people couldn't care less as long as you dress to blend in you get away with it.

This is such sound advice, and what I had in my mind the first few times I went out.

If you dress appropriately, walk appropriately, and behave appropriately…. In other words, don’t stand out, 99.9% of people will not even notice you, they are toooo busy getting on with their own lives.

If you totter down the high street looking like Lilly Savage etc … you will draw attention!!

People will look at anything that isn’t ’the norm’, it’s our nature. Yes some people will glance, yes people will sometimes double take, and very occasionally you may get a longer state … in those cases, just smile at them - they soon look away! - lol!

You are doing nothing illegal, and whilst rare (see point above), seeing trans people out there is not that unusual these days??

I still sometimes feel self conscious when out and about … but get through it

I think the bottom line is… if you want to go out, and not all do, one day you will find the courage. Just be reassured if ever you get to that point, you have nothing to worry about xx

Your first venture out doesn’t necessarily have to be stressful or nerve racking. There are certain venues which have changing facilities, meaning you won’t even have to be outside at all.

Look for Tgirl events in your area and contact the organisers as you won’t be the first to have these concerns.

Sparkle in Manchester is also a great place to start your journey being outside. Theres so many Tgirls around of all shapes and sizes, dressing in different styles and so many you’ll hardly stand out at all. It’s also a great place to meet new people who’ll also help you in the future.

We all have been in your shoes (high heels generally) so we understand that initial hesitant feeling to go out and express ourselves. This is a great time of year to go out for the first time, dark and plenty of others dressing up or down. I have never regretted going out and even the occasional scary or bad situation were so rare that it never put me off.

theres also 2 evenings in a year where you can be dressed up and go out and no one bats an eyelid.

also if you have a look at other trans pics you will note there clothing

then look at yours

note the styles note the photo thats been taken

now im not saying show your face but you could use a face mask instead

then you can show better body pics better style clothing pics

the chair pic is elegant yet sexy and i noticed that even before i clicked on the profile to point further pics out

or even the last 2 you will see long body photos in different poses and styles

theres many more pics on the forums that you can also look at or even on trans web sites for ideas poses and styles all to get you noticed.
